The company was founded by Bill and Ruth Pellman in their own family kitchen. It began with a few cheesecakes, then a few more, up to 100 cheesecakes a week and selling them to local Pennsylvania restaurants and farmer's markets. They retired in 2000 and their sons, Mike and Scott, took over the daily operations.
Pellman Foods says that the key to their business is using great recipes, the best ingredients, and a consistent product quality. All of their products are made from scratch.
The dessert inventory includes cheesecakes, cakes, pies, tortes, each in a broad variety of flavors and sizes, ranging from smaller sizes for individual customers and larger sizes, specially designed for selling individual pieces, to retail establishments, such as local supermarkets and restaurants. They also have packs of four of the same cakes and combo/variety packs with four different types.

Where to Purchase
Pellman Foods does not sell directly to the public or retailers. Individuals and retailers purchase the desserts from official service Food Service Distributors or Retail Bakeries. Their desserts come frozen and need to be served soon after receipt or placed in a cooler.
Fundraising programs are available through Pellman distributors. They offer free brochures, pickup, and some cases, delivery to your location. Participants may set the selling price and profits can be anywhere from $5-$10 per dessert.
Pellman Foods desserts are available at many retailers and supermarkets throughout the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas. Some locations where individuals can purchase the desserts include: Amish Village Bake Shop at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market on Chew Street, Redner's Markets, and Weis Markets. Customer may also purchase smaller quantities through some distributors, such as B & M Provision Co. on N. Graham Street.
My Experience
I first learned of Pellman desserts through B & M Provision Co., a general meat and food product distributor close to my home. They sell large quantities to retailers and smaller wholesale quantities to individuals. Usually they offer their desserts in combo packs of four but often have single desserts for sale.
I bought the 60-ounce Pumpkin Spice cake from B & M Provision Co. for around $10 which is a bargain for 16 servings. The cake was fresh and moist with a great flavor that wasn't overpowering and a sweet but not too sweet cream cheese icing and caramel swirl. It was beautifully decorated, perfect for special occasions, holidays, parties, or any time. My family loved it and couldn't get enough -- it's not too rich like some cakes and icing from other manufacturer's often are.
Conclusion
Pellman Foods is a great company with great homemade desserts at reasonable prices. They offer a large variety of flavors with something for everyone. I highly recommend their desserts to everyone.
