Penelope Cruz Marriage Confirmed

Representative, Amanda Silverman confirms the marriage of Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem which took place at the beginning of July. "The wedding ceremony was a small one that only family members attended," says Silverman, via email to the Associated Press.

Newlyweds Cruz and Bardem have kept a low profile since they began dating in 2007 and they appeared together in the romantic comedy by Woody Allen, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

Penelope Cruz started her career in 1990 when she hosted the Spanish Television Talk Show "La Quinta Marcha." Soon after in 1992 she appeared in her first film, "Jamon, Jamon," where she played the lead role at age 17.

Over the years Cruz has made approximately 41 American and European movies such as "All The Pretty Horses," "Blow," "Vanilla Sky," "Gothika," "Sahara," "Broken Embraces," "The Good Night," "Elegy," "Don't Move," "Noel," "Waking up in Reno," "Woman on Top," "Don Juan," "The Hi-Low Country," "About my Mother," "The Girl of Your Dreams," "Open Your Eyes," "For Love, Only for Love," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," "Nine," and "Sex and the City 2." In addition Cruz has lent her voice to the 2009 Walt Disney movie "G-Force," where she played Juarez and is currently filming "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," which will be released in 2011.

Because of her acting talent, Penelope Cruz has won numerous awards such as the "Spanish Actors Union Award for Supporting Performance," "David di Donatello Award for Best Actress," "Cinema Writer's Circle Award for Best Actress," "Empire Award for Best Actress," "Goya Award for Best Supporting Actress," "Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress," and an "Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress." Cruz has also been nominated for a "Golden Globe," "Screen Actors Guild Award," "Satellite Award," "BAFTA Award," "European Film Award," and the "NAACP Image Award."

When she isn't filming, Penelope Cruz is involved in charity work in both Uganda and India where she volunteers her time and makes substantial financial donations.
