You may not recognize the names 'Pennsylvania Grand Review or 'USCT', but both are critical to the history of the United States. Over 145 years ago, the United States Colored Troops (USCT) was banned from the Grand Review of the Armies which was held in Washington D.C. to celebrate and commemorate the end of the Civil War.

In honor of those who were not allowed to participate in the Grand Review, Pennsylvania is holding an event from November 4-7, 2010 in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Descendents and visitors are welcome to participate in this event, the only one of its kind since the Civil War ended.

This event is focused in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania because it was the site of the original Grand Review. The Garnet League, which was a prominent organization in Pennsylvania to honor African Americans who fought in the civil war, planned the Grand Review in 1865 to honor those forgotten troops. While this year's Grand Review is not a re-enactment, it will follow the same ideals as were originally set forth

While this is a year long event, this November weekend will be a focus of historians, re-enactors, actors, descendents and many more honoring the USCT. Opening Ceremony will kick off from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at the Forum Building at South Drive and Commonwealth Avenue in Pennsylvania's State Capital, Harrisburg.
