Pennsylvania Man Gets 15 Years for Porn on His Computers

Jodie Krapf, age 41 of Athens Pennsylvania, was sentenced earlier this month on federal charges of having photographs of children on his computers. These crimes were committed during the time span of January 2004 until the images were found in December 2006. He pleaded guilty in light of the overwhelming evidence, that he had produced several videos of a minor engaged in sexual activities. Some of the videos show Mr. Krapf touching the child as he slept, among other criminal acts.

Krapf had sexually molested a male minor at his home and these actives occurred while the male was between the ages of 13 until he was 16 years old. The minor is receiving extensive mental health counseling.

IT staff at Guthrie Healthcare made this discovery when Krapf brought his work computer to have it updated. It is unclear how Mr. Krapf thought that his activities would go unnoticed by the staff. It is also unclear how his activities went unnoticed for so long not only at home but at work as well.

Some of the images and videos burnt to compact disks and these pornographic disks and images were found upon both his home computer and the work computer. Officials seized both computers as evidence in the federal investigation.

Mr. Krapf grew up here and many neighbors were shocked as was the entire community. Jodie was very involved with the volunteer fire company and was respected within the community until this series of events happened.

He graduated from Athens high school in 1984 and was a member of the high school marching band. He married shortly after high school and began his family. Nothing in his childhood even hinted at his hidden nature.

"He was just a normal boy next door back then not the monster he appears to be now," said a resident of Athens who wished to have her name not mentioned. Her own nephew admitted to having stayed in the Krapf household during that time, but acknowledged that nothing happened to him. "It is just scary that someone like that could be so high functioning in the community and be such a monster."

Mr. Krapf is now headed to federal prison for fifteen years, will be released when he is 56 years old, and then will be listed as a sex offender for life. How can a life go so wrong, but this reporter is glad to see justice being served. He has lost out seeing own children grow and his grand children be born all because he gave into his perverted sexual desires. He has lost his wife, his children, his job, the respect of the community and his freedom all because he chose to touch a child that way. I seriously doubt it was worth it to him.

Our community is sleeping better knowing at least on child molester is off the streets and our children are safe.
