Pensacola UFO Sighting

Pensacola is not a location that has received national recognition for anything really good. We have of course Roy Jones and Emmitt Smith and numerous other individuals who seem to have hit the jackpot and made it to the big times. However, outside of those two and a few others, the area really does not get much national publicity except when the negative news is spotlighted.

Gulf Breeze, however, which sits right across the Gulf only about five minutes away from downtown Pensacola is the mecca for UFO sightings. Gulf Breeze has been on National news, the Discovery Channel, CNN, MSNBC and many other major news networks. Why you might ask! Gulf Breeze is where the elite of Northwest Florida reside. The area also sits in very close proximity to Pensacola Beach. Pensacola Beach has the whitest sands and overlooks beautiful crystal clear water (Before the BP Oil Spill) that has an aqua blue brilliance as you peer out towards the horizon. But, not only that, Gulf Breeze is known for numerous UFO visits. Sightings have been reported since the early 1900's.

My family and I will never forget and we sometimes speak of the night we saw a UFO. The night was not unusual. The sky however, was extremely clear with stars carpeting every area as far as the eye could see. My husband and I decided to take the boys for a ride. We did that often when they were young. It was not unusual for us to eat dinner, take our baths, prepare for bed and then decide to ride out.

My family was young. My husband and I had been married only about five years and we had two sons at the time. We had finished dinner and were watching television when we decided to go outside and look around. We then decided to go for a ride. As we left the house, we decided to take the boys to the movie.

The night sky was incredible. Stars twinkling everywhere. The moon was full and was extra bright this night. The sky was gorgeous. We drove out Highway 98 which leads into the main road to Gulf Breeze. As we headed towards the intersection, we saw this huge object sitting motionless in the sky just beyond some trees. The area is generally very quiet. Yet, we noticed cars stopping everywhere.

As we approached the area and got closer to the intersection we could not believe what we were seeing. It was obvious the large object was just hovering above the trees without any means of support. In the night sky, we saw the shape and lights. The object was massive. It looked to be about five city blocks long and about two blocks high. We then noticed that the lights formed a type of cup edge around the object.

No one was talking. Everyone was just looking. I think the fear of the object, not being believed by the media or just disbelief had most of us speechless. My husband decided that we should get into our cars and move along to a safer area because as he put it, "if that thing decides it wants to zap a few people aboard, I don't want us to be in range." so we moved on.

The next day, I checked the PNJ to see if anyone had reported the info. Nothing was in the news. I checked several days after that to see if anything was reported: Nothing. A few years later, when computers became more popular, I searched the web for information on a sighting in Pensacola. Around 1989, a series of sightings were reported in the exact same area.

In Pensacola, you never really know what you might see in the night skies. However, it's a sure bet, something visits us in this area quite frequently. Perhaps our visitors are similar to the area residents. We love the environment and beauty of the area.

For fear of ridicule, disbelief or maybe even being whisked away from your family, we tend to keep quiet when we see these objects in the sky.
