Pentagon Shooter, John Patrick Bedell, was NOT a "Right-Winger" as Some Media Reports

Snidely Whiplash
The minute the shots rang out, I could feel it coming. It's sorta how my mind has become accustomed to working in this age of hyper political goings on. When something horrible happens in this nation of a violent nature it seems the media and their little sycophant minions rush to discover that maybe, hopefully, possibly there is some connection to conservative thinking.

But this effort by media and yes, Democrats, isn't new. Recall after the Oklahoma City bombing by a real right-winger, Timothy McVeigh, that none other than Bill Clinton announced that McVeigh was spurred on by hate speech, specifically conservative talk radio, which back in 1995 essentially meant Rush Limbaugh. How nice.

And now we find John Patrick Bedell, the Pentagon shooter from last week, is opined by some in media to be a right-winger. Here are the facts.

First the disclaimer. I was not going to write about this incident or this man because he was mentally ill. I was trying to be a mensch and not play the hateful political finger pointing game of accusatory politics with no redeeming point other than to rub the opposition's nose in it. I was trying to demonstrate forbearance due to Bedell's mental illness. I was not going to rake the left over the coals for his acts because he was disturbed. But since the left doesn't want to play fair, lemme hook the reader's up here.

John Patrick Bedell was registered Democrat. John Patrick Bedell was a malcontent about government. John Patrick Bedell was a 9/11 truther - ya know, like that infamous lefty Van Jones. John Patrick Bedell hated George W. Bush with a singular passion. If one doubts my assertions, click the provided source link. Yes, the link is to Michelle Malkin, a conservative, but the link also provides the voter registration record for John Patrick Bedell. READ IT!

I am going to move from fact now to my opinion on all of this. Some folks make me sick to my stomach, and if you are one of the ones playing this blame game for political mileage, grow up and knock it off. Both sides of the spectrum has their own nuts and zealots. I would not pretend a good ol' Democrat was a hateful soul, no more than any other political philosophy should try and defame everyone of a different viewpoint.

I support all political philosophies, but once the lying and finger pointing starts and continues all for the sake of political mileage, that's a whole 'nother thing altogether. If one is my opposite, a liberal, fine by me - you have that right and I support that right of yours 100%, but once it moves from left/right wrangling and on toward hate of the other side for not agreeing, we have real problems.

Well said-- and a spot on analysis of media bias.

What struck me about this story was the administrations willingness to consider this incident as a "terrorist attack" (though it seems they haven't followd through on that), yet they classified Nidal Malik Hasan's rampage that killed 15 of our soldiers and wounded 30 others after screaming "Allah Akbar" as an "isolated incident" from the actions of a disturbed man with PTSD. Funny, isn't it?

Right on T. I failed to mention that, although I should have. Thanks for reminding me of that one. Just more factually demonstrable evidence the left does not play by the same rules they try to make everyone else play by. And thanks for the support of you other folks. Truth will win out so long as we can get it out.

right on target as always. I mentioned to marc down there..how the AC progressives, one of your regular visitors to be exact, were frothing at the mouth when the Kentucky census worker killed himself...they were erroneously blaming tea party & right wing ideology over the death. When the truth is revealed...the silence from that same crowd is very telling.

Well, Snidely, you and Schenker are right on target! One wonders if anybody is listening but keep up the good work, both of you!

  • Marc Schenker3/6/2010

Exactly, Snidely: Conservatives really don't want to play the let's-bring-ideology-and-politics-game into the equation every time there's a bloody rampage by some sociopath, but I think we have to start finding out the voting records of these lunatics just in case the liberal liars falsely attribute a conservative ideology to these killers!
