Classic wooden pencils are identifiable symbols of education systems throughout the world. From learning how to write in grammar school to writing memos, taking notes, and even composing music throughout life, handwriting would be difficult without the perfect pencil. While pens and markers may serve the same purpose, only pencils can offer the silvery writing texture and ability to consistently erase work. The Paper Mate Mirado Classic offers a casing made of incensed cedar wood, providing an old-fashioned scent during the quick and easy sharpening processes.
Likewise, the Paper Mate Mirado Classic rubber eraser is soft enough to ensure paper rarely tears while removing pencil marks. With its ceramic waxed lead, writing becomes a smooth, enjoyable experience. In addition, the waxed lead makes accidentally breaking the lead more difficult. Like most wooden pencils, the Paper Mate Mirado Classic pencil combines ageless pencil technology with modern manufacturing techniques to provide a timeless, reliable resource for all one's writing needs.
However, along with the popularity of mechanical pencils comes the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencil. With its wooden appearance, the pencil looks like any other wooden pencil, except for the prominent phrase "Never needs to be sharpened" engraved on its side. When used, the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencil produces a thin, sharp, and darker color lead stream than normal graphite pencil leads.
The coloration and style of the liquid graphite resemble the ink in pens. However, people who write small may benefit from this pencil as it is much easier to compress words and letters into small spaces. Instead of a round eraser embedded into the end of the pencil shaft, the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencil is manufactured with a permanent cap-style eraser. Nonetheless, the eraser easily removes pencil marks without trouble. On the other hand, since the liquid graphite cannot be replaced, once the graphite runs out, the pencil is no longer useful. Many times, with vigorous daily use, the eraser outlives the pencil's liquid graphite.
One major difference between the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencil and the Paper Mate Mirado Classic pencil involves the smearing of pencil lead when writing. For left-handed writers, smearing becomes a major problem when writing on notebook paper or copy paper. However, the Pentech Liquid Graphite prevents smearing and makes writing a much cleaner and less cumbersome task for both right-handed and left-handed writers.
Overall, the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencil proves to be a reasonable alternative for those seeking the convenience of a mechanical pencil without losing the classic look and feel of wooden pencils. From its thin graphite stream to its long-lasting cap eraser, the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencil serves as a fresh take on the old wooden pencil concept. However, if long-lasting pencils are preferred, the Paper Mate Mirado Classic offers exceptional performance with minimum maintenance. While the Pentech pencil may run out of lead in a few weeks, the Paper Mate Mirado Classic continues to provide value after each sharpening. While the Paper Mate's eraser may be used quicker than the cap eraser on the Pentech Liquid Graphite, cap erasers can be purchased at any office supply retailer to provide similar convenience as the Pentech.
While the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencils tend to cost more than the Paper Mate Mirado Classics, the best option for one person may not be the best option for others. Personal preference should play a key role in determining which pencil fits one's needs. For an overall exceptional wooden pencil, the Paper Mate Mirado Classic excels at providing a modern take on wooden pencils. Likewise, while the Pentech Liquid Graphite pencil delivers quality performance, its higher cost and relatively short lifetime are two of the most limiting factors affecting the pencil's ability to embody the classic spirit of the wooden writing utensil in a modern, mechanical interpretation.

Post a CommentI gotta say I love it. I love sharp pencils and hate it when the tip breaks. I don't use the mechanical pencils because the stronger lead leaves a thick line. I found this one in a drawer at work and fell in love. I now have a clean line and a sharp point every time.
I was at a conference and got a couple...looked real neat...but it didn't work. Seemed like the liquid graphite dried up or the tip got clogged. Needless to say, if I had to pay for these freebies, I would have taken them back ASAP. The regular lead mechanical pencil is fool-proof...these liquid graphite pencils still have a long way to go.
God created man so man can produce these AWESOME pencils. I love them can't find them in the store anymore have to order them on line. I do agree you don't get much out of one pencil in fact there have been times, that I have just opened a pack and the darn thing just doesn't write. I have to say though these still are my favorite and will continue to check where I can purshase besides the internet. Peace out
I bought these pencils recently..
They dont work quite as well in sub 0 temperatures..
I first bought the trio and thought they were great. Told others to buy them that they wrote so well and erased clean. Well, that isn't always the case. When they write it is nice and smooth, but they don't write more often then they do. And if you try to erase after any length of time, guess what they DON'T erase!! I am always rescheduling appointments and needing to erase clients names and now I have had to use white-out and use an old fashion regular pencil. They have their ups and downs. Works great in my checkbook register, nice and sharp lines but other than that I don't use them.
And you are VERY CORRECT Falc, God DIDN'T make these, man did. God gave us the knowledge to make many wonderful inventions that we have now.
god did not create these works of art. they were created by pentech. they attract much attention at school, lol "liquid lead?!?! WIIIIITTCH!!!"
Those pencils are poppin yo. They write so easy and they hae such a pleasant aroma!!! I'm so glad God created them! I definatly am going to use this for the rest of my life. I grew up with fountain pens; I really admire the way writing has evolved!
These pencils were a God send for my 4th Grader. He cannot bear the sound a pencil makes to the point of covering his ears when someone is using a pencil near him. Yes, I know, a little OCD'ish, but he's mine and I love him. Anyway, he had been using a Papermate Erasermate since kindergarten, and this year we found the liquid graphite. Only problem was his teacher tried to say it was a pen and he could not use it. We went to the principal due to the fact that there is no written rule against using them, and now he is allowed. We are very satisfied with the pencil, as it erases clean, unlike the Erasermate. I prefer the Mirado Black Warrior, but for my son to find a pencil that he can use comfortably, I am happy. No problems with the quality of writing, it is simply a fine point.
I just purchased the trio. I love it! They are very smooth against the paper, I like the feel alot, it sort of glides like a pen. However, I agree with Eudora the lines are somewhat broken, but doesn't bother me in the least. I'm using them for my math class, and the thought of not having to break my concentration to go sharpen is great. I also used to use mechanical pencils, but they were a pain when the lead would break. I love this pencil!
I'd stay away from the "liquid graphite." I got a trio as well and gave it up for my pen (which I thankfully had on me) after trying to write and getting nearly no mark on the paper. Darn. They're pretty though.
