Recently, People Magazine came out with their newest edition which praises the 40-year-old Australian actor as the sexiest man alive. People simply calls Jackman a "triple threat" and a star who is famous for singing, dancing, and well...wielding a weapon. Not only that, but Jackman is drooled over due to his scruffy look and smooth talking.
However, is Jackman really the sexiest man alive and can he stand up to previous winners that have held the title? I say no. But you should decide for yourself...
Hugh Jackman has a lot to hold up to. Past winners of the "Sexiest Man Alive" title include hot stars such as Brad Pitt in 2000, Johnny Depp in 2003, and George Clooney in 2006. Hugh Jackman who?
Overall, I believe Jackman was a poor choice. Surely the other Hollywood hotties are sexier than the Australian actor.
My personal "Sexiest Man Alive" award would, without a doubt, go to Patrick Wilso. Recently, the 35-year-old actor appeared in Lakeview Terrace with Samuel L. Jackson and he even had a steamy scene with co-star Kate Winslet in Little Children. Call me a typical girl, but who wouldn't enjoy seeing the sexy Patrick Wilson in the buff? Additionally, Wilson is going to appear in the new graphic novel film Watchmen as the character Nite Owl.
Patrick Wilson prevails over Hugh Jackman because Wilson is truly a triple threat. He performs on stage and on the big screen. He can sing, act, and dance. He's been nominated for a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and a Tony. Hugh Jackman...move aside!
In conclusion, let's just hope People magazine does a little more research before handing over such an important title.

Post a CommentYou've gotta be joking! To each his own, but I find Patrick Wilson about as exciting as watching paint dry. I saw him on Broadway in "Oklahoma!" and throughout the whole show I kept thinking "what this show needs is Hugh Jackman!" Hugh is a man with stage presence and charisma and talent to spare. Indeed, a triple threat. People Magazine got it right this year!!
Rachel,
Have you lost your freakin' mind? Patrick Wilson over Hugh Jackman? And btw, Hugh has been nominated for a Golden Globe (for Kate & Leopold), has won a Tony (for The Boy From Oz) and also won an Emmy (for hosting the Tony Awards!) Next will be an Oscar for Australia which comes out next week! Hugh Jackman is the epitome of a Triple Threat! Do your research next time (and get your eyes checked while you're at it!)
Oh, you need your eyes checked, Rachel!
Honestly, why does it always have to be the same old Hollywood types? Why can't it be someone who has a broader range - he's not just a movie star but a celebrated theatre performer.
He's nice and fab to look at. He has more class than a lot of Hollywood actors. Plus, why can't the sexiest man be Australian, as opposed to an American?
Well done, Hugh! I think you ARE the sexiest man alive!
Patrick Wilson? O.o
Hugh can sing, dance and act as well! He's been on stage, WON a Tony AND an Emmy, along with many other awards for his work. He's one hell of a man: tall, handsome, sweet, funny, talented and he's a family man. Hugh definitely deserves the title of Sexiest Man. It's about time he got it.
While tastes differ, and ours are completely opposite, I have to help reiterate that Hugh Jackman has actually won a Tony for his Broadway debut, and an Emmy for hosting the Tony's, which he did for three years in a row. To compare Hugh and Patrick is quite simple. Patrick replaced Hugh as Curly in Oklahoma! Hugh reinvented to role and the Rogers family insisted his performance be captured on film. Patrick's review was a short and not so sweet "He's no Hugh Jackman." Very true.
I think Hugh is the perfect and long-awaited choice as the real Sexiest Man Alive.
I have to agree with Alicia on all points. It's refreshing to see his face instead of Brad, George or Johnny.
Although I agree that Patrick Wilson is talented, I thought he was fantastic in Hard Candy opposite Ellen Page, but maybe you're the one who should do a bit more research: Hugh was also nominated for a Golden Globe, nominated for 2 Emmys consecutively and actually won the first year, and won a Tony award, not to mention that he hosted them three years in a row. Maybe not everyone agrees with Hugh Jackman being Sexiest Man Alive but he's actually the first choice I've agreed with in years. He's a refreshing leading man and I'm happy to call myself a fan of his.
