People Poetry: Like, Totally, Little Diva

She is a very cute young girl
Her age is twenty-one
She will give anything a whirl
You know she's lots of fun

Her hair is frosted, root to tip
Her eyebrows plucked so neat
With makeup lid to lip
To see her is a treat

Her outfit is a trendy mess
Right from a magazine
A hottie from her toes to tress
I hate to be so mean

But when she tries to speak to me
With words that are so deep
With likes, ya knows, and totally
She makes me want to weep

I cannot understand her; no matter how I try
Between likes and 'oh my goshing'
She deigns to ask me why
I really think she's joshing

But, really, it's no joke
This new vocabulary
At which fun I do poke
Really makes me wary

And then there is the texting
Which I really do not get
I guess it is the next thing
To replace any great wit

I guess that I'm just getting old, because I can't relate
I'll just sit and watch the times change quickly
