People of Walmart: The Web's Most Hilarious Time-Waster Goes Viral

Rochelle Connery
As if there aren't enough ways to waste time on the internet, three young men have made it even easier to find a route to shirk your work while you're on the clock. People of Walmart, a brand new website featuring fashion faux pas, hair disasters, and... goats, found only at one of the world's largest shopping chains, is now available for your viewing pleasure. The sad part? Not only is it incredibly hilarious, it's unfortunately true.

Andrew and Adam Kipple and Luke Wherry created PeopleOfWalmart.com after taking a trip to Walmart and seeing a woman who could pass for a stripper, followed up by a ZZ Top wannabe. If that's not enough to inspire you, I don't know what is. But unlike many inspirations us young people like to divulge in but never see through to completion, PeopleOfWalmart.com is up and running and could very well be here to stay.

So what can you expect to see on the People of Walmart blog? As I was breezing through each post since August 28, 2009, I couldn't help but shake my head in bewilderment that fat women in bikini tops and short shorts, an old man with large breast implants, and one particularly rotund woman so round she couldn't get up off the floor and actually into the Walmart shopping center, can all actually live with themselves. I hate to judge, but all you need to do is look in the mirror to determine something is inherently wrong here.

However, while these folks are bulging their way to fame on the People of Walmart site, the rest of us can find a reason to be thankful for who we are - as well as grounds for checking our clothing, hair, makeup, and pet choices before we walk out the door and become our own POW (Person/People Of Walmart).

I anticipate the People of Walmart blog will turn into something of a long-lived internet sensation (think LOLcat or FMyLife.com) So I suggest that next time you go to Walmart, bring a camera. You might just find someone worthy of sending into the People of Walmart blog. Unfortunately, you have to have a signed agreement from the model before you send it in, which takes half of the fun out of it.

As a warning, however, you might want to look at these at home, not at work. Some of the pictures contain captions with the "f" word (if that matters to your boss), and others feature bottomless women (think a bloated Britney Spears). Some sites have marked PeopleOfWalmart.com as Not Safe for Work. Others claim it's Not Safe for Children.

I tend to disagree with the latter; the kids probably should see some of these. It will frighten them out of their wits and turn them into civilized, well-adjusted adults who would never dare to let themselves go, cut their hair into a mullet, wear dreadfully mismatched clothing, or leave the house topless or bottomless, I can assure you.

So, if you're looking for a few laughs or need a reason to feel a lot better about yourself, head on over to PeopleOfWalmart.com. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
