Pauline Abreu
Christmas is a particularly good time for making the most out of baking ideas. This recipe can is easy to make, and a delicious way to celebrate the holiday season. The nice red and green colors give these candy treats a Christmas look that will have your family and friends wanting to make them too. They look nice as a part of the Christmas day treats, to be eaten as and when someone would like to.

* Peppermint Christmas Candy *

1 tablespoon light corn syrup

1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract or few drops peppermint oil

4 cups powdered sugar

4 ozs. cream cheese, softened

Green and red food coloring

Sifted powdered sugar

Green, red and white decorating icing (optional)

1 tablespoon margarine

* Preperation *

Beat the margarine, corn syrup, cream cheese, and peppermint extract.

Use an electric mixer, at medium speed, until the mixture is well blended.

Gradually add the 4 cups of powdered sugar, mix well, and divide into thirds.

Mix green food coloring into one third, the red food coloring into another third.

Wrap in plastic wrap.

Shape each color into 3/4 inch balls.

Place on a cookie sheet, lined with wax paper.

Lightly dip the bottom of a glass in sugar, and flatten the balls.

Decorate with icing.

Chill.

Another good thing about this recipe is that there is no cooking involved. These peppermint Christmas candies are so easy and quick to make, that you will find more time to deal with all the other aspects of the Christmas celebrations. I hope you enjoy these treats, and you will make them for your family and friends at Christmas time. They are also great for giving as Christmas gifts to your loved one's.
