Perez Hilton Predicted Brittany Murphy's Death?

If His Blogging Job Stops Paying, Perhaps Perez Hilton Has a Future as a Psychic

Did Perez Hilton predict the death of "Don't Say A Word" actress Brittany Murphy? Is it possible that whatever was going on in Brittany Murphy's life was so well known in the Hollywood rumor circuit that celebrity gossip maven Perez Hilton was able to predict her imminent demise just weeks before the young star was actually found dead in her Los Angeles home? It would appear that it is true.

Back in early December, San Diego radio show "AJ In The Morning" host A. J. Machado and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton were discussing Michael Jackson's untimely death and how it was the biggest celebrity story of 2009. Machado asked Hilton if saw anyone else that might be headed down the same path as Michael Jackson. Hilton replied, "Brittany Murphy maybe."

Prescient, good contacts, or simply very observant? Although it is doubtful that Perez Hilton is truly psychic, the Hollywood gossip certainly seemed to have his insider's information working for him that day.

Brittany Murphy was found just a couple weeks after Perez Hilton's statement. Her mother discovered her and a subsequent 911 call brought paramedics to the house, where they found the 32-year-old actress unresponsive and under full cardiac arrest. They immediately began administering CPR. CPR was also administered throughout the transfer of Murphy to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, but Murphy remained unresponsive throughout. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Could she have died of other causes? Of course, and the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has launched a full investigation into the matter, especially after learning that Brittany Murphy was unwell before being found unconscious in the shower. They also learned that Murphy was taking prescription medication and discovered various medications in the home. Although the LAPD has ruled out obvious criminality in their investigation into Murphy's death, the final determination will rest with the results of the final report of the Coroner's Office, which must await the findings of toxicology tests, something that may not be known for at least six weeks.

But rumors of drugs in the actress' life have been persistent. Besides the finding of several prescription medications in Brittany Murphy's home, there were the rumblings of anorexia earlier in her career, a disorder that many attributed to cocaine addiction. According to the Huffington Post, Murphy denied the allegations in 2005, stating she had never tried cocaine.

And then there was Perez Hilton's remarks on his blog when the news first broke about Brittany Murphy's death. "Absolutely devastating," he wrote. "Especially because this comes as no surprise! We, and those who knew Brittany personally, saw this coming. That does not make this any less horrible."

Those comments, coupled with Brittany Murphy's husband's medical scare in November, when EMTs were called to LAX to administer to an incoherent Simon Monjack, suggest that there may be more than just rumors to worry about. The airport incident was explained away as a bad asthma attack, but TMZ reported that the responders felt that whatever befell Simon Monjack was something far more serious than an asthma attack. The strange swirl of truth and rumors concerning the circumstances of Murphy's death have even given rise to the idea that her death might even be a hoax.

Unfortunately, a hoax it is not.

In all the excitement, the simplest answer as to the actress' cause of death may have been ignored. There also exists the chance that Brittany Murphy's cardiac arrest may have occurred by the simple cessation of the beating of her heart.

While the world waits for the Coroner's Office's final autopsy report, it might be interesting to see if Perez Hilton attempts to become the next Jeanne Dixon.
