Perez Hilton Reeks of Hypocrisy Over Faggot Remark

Whether you love Perez Hilton or love to hate him, he does have a point; violence is never the answer. But does that excuse hypocrisy and bigotry?

Perez Hilton and will.i.am of the band Black Eyed Peas got into an argument Monday outside of a Toronto nightclub. The band's manager Polo Molina punched Hilton. Within minutes, Hilton was already asking for help on Twitter. During the hours that ensued, those of us following the story online only had Perez's story to go by, which was that he received an unprovoked punch to the face. Then will.i.am started a Twitter page to combat rumors that he hit Perez. Finally, the truth came out in a video taken from a bystander.

In this video, will.i.am were in the middle of an argument, about Perez's blog, when Perez told will.i.am, "...you're not a f*cking artist, you're a f*cking faggot," which led to the punch. Needless to say, this remark didn't go over well with the public and gay rights activists.

Perez, who was in the news recently for his outrage over Miss California's comments on gay marriage, used a gay slur to hit will.i.am where it hurts. Does being a gay man give Perez the right to use words such as faggot, much like many black men throw around the word nigger like it's nothing? The answer is no. While Perez undoubtedly felt threatened, many wish he would have simply walked away from that situation.

What's done is done, and now GLAAD is on his tail, as well as countless individuals and bloggers. In a recent blog post, Perez said he never claimed to be a spokesman for the gay community, although recent events with Miss California inadvertently put him in that very spotlight.

In my eyes, even in the heat of the moment, this is all very hypocritical. If a celebrity was arguing with Perez and called him a faggot, imagine the drama that would have taken place. Perez knows that word hurts, but wasn't thinking when he unleashed it on will.i.am.

On his blog, Perez said he learned his lesson and is walking away from this a more compassionate person. People make mistakes. Which one of us hasn't blurted out something hateful at least once in our lives?

It's true that violence is never called for, but for Perez to say that he didn't ask for it, is another issue. News flash; when you call a man a f*ggot, you are pretty much asking to get punched. You can't control the actions of another person, but can predict said actions. In an unfortunate and non-literal way, Perez did ask for it. What did he expect of the outcome?

According to several reports, manager Paul Molina is on probation, so if found guilty, he will most likely go to jail for this attack.
As a fan of Perez Hilton, I'm glad to hear that he realizes what he did was wrong. Although he has not issued an official apology to will.i.am for the remark, he is remorseful for the situation as a whole. I believe Perez has learned that no matter what the situation, bigoted remarks are never the answer.

When Perez Hilton gets his #$%$ kicked, most of America doesn't care. Those that know him are glad. He's an arrogant little butt pirate who needs a few more beatings to shut him up. He called a Ms. America contestant a #$%$ and a #$%$ just because she had a different view on abortion. He's a hypocrite and one of the biggest losers the world has ever seen. Somebody please give this guy a good Italian beating.

Any man with any common sense whatsoever knows when you insult another man you better be ready willing and most importantly ABLE to back it up. Apparently he assumed because he is a sissy he won't get knocked out.He learned a good lesson in my opinion. Your mouth can get you in trouble ,REAL QUICK . He knows this now I assure you.

I dunno... he called Ms. California a swear word on his blog, moments after the conclusion of the pageant. He called this guy a faggot. Obviously, he has a potty mouth that comes to fruition when he's got his knickers in a bind over something. He seems to enjoy disparaging others in his blog, which should tell you something about his character. I don't think he learned his lesson, though.
