Perezhilton.Com Versus WWTDD.Com For Celebrity Gossip

The Low Down on the Popular Celebrity Gossip Websites

Cassie Schmelz
I like celebrity gossip as much as the next person, OK, probably more. When I don't want to wait for my US Weekly , I can easily go to Perezhilton.com or WWTDD.com for the scoop on my favorite hot-mess celebrities.

Although both celebrity gossip websites cover a lot of the same content, each offers a different perspective and appeals to a different crowd. One great thing about both Perezhilton.com and WWTDD.com is that they're not censored like celebrity gossip magazines, making them ten times more hilarious (and addictive).

Perezhilton.com is written by Mario Lavandeira (aka Perez Hilton) and is definitely the more well known of the two sites. A major plus for Perezhilton.com is that there are a ton of posts every day. If you've got a lot of time on your hands, this might be the celebrity gossip website for you. Perezhilton.com goes beyond just posting gossip items. They also post links for new music as well as charity opportunities.

Perezhilton.com is not without its drawbacks, though. I don't know if it's due to the volume of the material produced, but it's not nearly as funny as what's on WWTDD.com. They seem to be more about quantity than quality. Perezhilton.com also usually only posts one or two pictures for each item, whereas you can find a plethora of pictures on WWTDD.com. Overall, though, Perezhilton.com is a pretty good celebrity gossip site with a lot of information. Perez is so well known that he gets a lot of good dirt.

WWTDD.com is written by Brendon Donnelly and stands for What Would Tyler Durden Do (Tyler Durden being Brad Pitt's character from Fight Club). Since he's not really a celebrity himself, like Perez, he can afford to really get a lot more jabs in. There doesn't really seem to be anyone in Hollywood that he's afraid to make fun of. This celebrity gossip website is, hands down, my favorite because it's so freaking hilarious. I usually find myself laughing out loud at my computer like a fool when I go to WWTDD.com.

One thing I don't like about WWTDD.com, though, is that he usually only posts one page (6-8 posts) per day during the week, and doesn't usually post any on the weekends. It would be great if WWTDD.com would put up more material, but that might interfere with the funniness level.

Even though WWTDD.com is the winner of the two celebrity gossip websites, in my book, I still visit both with regularity. Where WWTDD.com is lacking, Perezhilton picks up, and vice versa. If I could just get the two to join forces and make one super site, I would be in celebrity gossip heaven.
