Perfect Enough

The writer in me
nay, my love of words
makes me feel like I have to say the perfect thing to you
that only a perfect conversation will make everything okay
but there is no such thing as perfect
at a time like this.
I can tell you I want to be with you
that I cannot wait to see you again
and I will miss you terribly
I can tell you that I want to hear from you while you're away
that I hope you will miss me
and want to talk to me
I can hope that you will still want to kiss me
like you did before
and that you still want me
And in a perfect world
we'll have the chance to say these things to each other
and be together again
But like words, the world is not always perfect
And I can only hope that in this case
It's good enough.
