The Hotel Del Coronado opened on February 19, 1888. With so many years of history - - no wonder it has rumors of "ghostly activities!" From unusual noises, unexplained movement of things, flickering lights, and chilly rooms - -this makes this hotel the perfect spot for your Halloween wedding.
The most popular ghost story happened in room 302, now room 3312. On Thanksgiving, 1892, Kate Morgan, ill from pregnancy, sat in her room waiting for her husband. Five days later, she was found on the beach stairs, dead from a mysterious gunshot wound to her head. Rumors have it that she is still waiting in her hotel room for her husband! Drapes move and the screens fall off the windows, for no apparent reason at all! Also, there have been sightings of a light in the room while it is unoccupied. Don't believe me? If you dare to add some extra "excitement" to your wedding night, reserve room 3312 for your honeymoon suite! That way, you can see it for yourself!
Room 502, currently room 3502, was hotel owner and builder, E.S. Babcock's room. His mistress took her own life, after finding out she was pregnant with his child. There have been reports that lights flicker on and off in the room and an unexplained chill has been reported in the space.
No - -that sound is not coming from your children! Guests have made reports of a boy and girl running up and down the hotel hallways and stairways. Guests have claimed that they have felt a chill and heard unexplained "childlike" noises.
Not only is this location perfect for your celebration because of its "uninvited guests." It also was named the "number-one wedding destination in America" by the Travel Channel. No wonder! With its breathtaking ocean views, gorgeous historical Victorian architecture, and beautiful grounds, most couples dream of having their wedding at this hotel! Its event facilities even have unlimited options! From small to large, casual to formal, indoor and outdoor spaces, "The Del" has everything to offer! To inquire about pricing, questions, or to reserve your room for your "ghostly celebration," go to www.hoteldel.com for details.
If you want the "uninvited" guest to make your Halloween wedding reception "thrilling," have your reception at this haunted hotel! Even if you don't believe in ghosts, it still adds that "extra" element of "surprise" to your wedding. Believe me - -It will be a night you will never forget!
