Soul Mates

Robin Jessie-Green
Ordinarily,

I'd agree with them

Perhaps be

Pondering and doubting

what it is I actually see in him

Taking heed of the possibility

That he is all about one thing

And I would if I didn't know better

But I know

there's something within the soul

that holds us together

Simply believing what they believe

would just be way too easy

And that's one thing we are not

Filled with surprises interlaced with complexity

He is everything good that I'm not

And I am his counter-partner

In return

I'm the him to his her

And for me

he is the she to my he

Completely dependent both physically and spiritually

Separate entities

That is--

until we join and release

simultaneously

Truly amazingly

spectacular between the sheets

of inked stained paper and music notes

All one and the same.

Relating in every way

How many others can state such a claim?

I told you before

he's not just some guy

And to him, some girl, neither am I

And I know you question me

But I just can't tell you why

Or explain it in a manner in which you can understand

Simply because you cannot fathom

It's just because he is

And I am

That's why

he's my

perfect catch

and it's a shame

that you haven't felt

what it is to meet your perfect match.
