What happens when our body is overloaded with all these pollutants from food, water, or air? Well, that's not as simple as just becoming sick. Processing of the mind is significantly affected and even the rest of our body. Pollutants tend to block or slow down the delivery of needed nutrients and oxygen to all other parts of the body.
Most of the time, it's very tough to protect ourselves to the extent of being away from all sorts of diseases. Although the body has its own system of healing, we definitely need to take care of our body and help it function better. When the mind is drained, your body aches and all your energy levels are getting close to zero, then its right time for a body detox. Detoxification rejuvenates the mind as much as it cleanses all our body.
Imagine yourself having clear skin, sharp mind, having energy revitalized, strong immune system and feeling of being healthy inside out - these are some of the things that you can enjoy by undergoing a detoxification program.
Detoxification basically means cleansing your blood by eliminating impurities from the liver, kidneys, lungs, intestines, lymph and even from skin.
Taking your first step:
1. Change in diet:
First, you must sure to reduce toxins in your body. Try to cut down: cigarettes, alcohol, coffee, eating foods with saturated fats and refined sugars (cola and ketchup) these act as toxins in your body and as they hinder the healing capacity.
Fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains instead of packaged and junk foods that are high on fats and sugar should become part of your daily lifestyle to maintain good health.
There are many ways you can detox your body. It's up to you to choose what ever suits your lifestyle.
2. Juice fasting:
Drinking only juices of fresh fruits and vegetables such as carrot, spinach, celery, cabbage, apple, pineapple and cranberry (avoid citrus fruits). This is an effective way to discharge all the toxins from your body and it also provides lots of nutrients as well as enzymes to cleanse your system.
Fast weight loss is the other main benefit you can get from juice fasting. Any one who is obese can drop 30-40 lbs on a 30-day juice fast. By this process, a person gains self-confidence and feels light and clean.
Duration of juice fasting is usually 1-3 days. More days than this can be done by medical administration and assessment.
3. Water fasting:
Only water is consumed during this process. Water makes the digestive tract and all the organs to rest completely, allowing all your energy to self-repair and strengthen the damaged organs. It also eliminates toxin build-ups which are developed in many days.
Water fastening can be done for only one day, and you can have honey with water, as honey provides the required glucose directly.
4. Sauna:
Sauna can also remove toxins from your body which is followed by many cultures. This is a great and simple process of removing buildup chemicals in fat cells. Saunas are normally combined with your exercise, diet and nutritional supplements.
5. Skin brushing:
Again, with addition to the above ways of detoxification, skin brushing is a very gentle way to detox your skin. It removes old dead skin cells, and stimulates your lymph system and takes out toxins from the skin. A dry skin brush made of soft bristles can be used for better results. Before having your shower, lightly brush your feet in circular motion towards the chest area for two minutes.
6. Yoga:
Yoga helps the bloodstream to oxygenate thoroughly thus giving all the energy and improves the physical process of the body. Different positions of yoga lightly massage our internal organs and then stimulate them to discharge toxins slowly.
