Perfectly Tender Moment

Amidst the noiselessness of this midnight hour
In the instant before slumber would drop anchor
Another ship, so long in dry dock, now sets sail
It gently pushes back from it's cozy little slip
Leaving tiny wavelets inching across the water
The mouth of the harbor is only but moments away
And yet the memories of previous journeys remain
This journey, this night, seems so very different
My hand firmly gripping the rudder still trembles
Uncertain of navigating the simple plotted course
Traversed effortlessly so very many times before
But I let myself draw a long, slow, deep breath
And a familiar calm emerges from deep within me
Letting me know to abandon all preconceptions
And simply let the seas once again carry me along
Just as they've done time and time and time again
I willingly place my heart and trust in this ship
Not to sound too cliche... but in this friendship
A friendship that has toughed pretty rough waters
But has carried me to places never before seen...
Lifted my heart to heights never before dreamed...
Soothed my soul as nothing else ever has or could
So I abandon all concerns, I abandon all fears
And set sail into the most perfectly tender moment
