Perfidy

A betrayal cripples all hope for the future,
And satisfies only temporary states;
Lays the groundwork under kisses for silver,
And meanders around Lucifer's gates.

It breeds Distance and Loneliness in a bed of thorns.
It hews the character from mankind fleck by flake.
It wounds where naivete declined a shield to be worn,
And siphons every drop it finds of any emotion at stake.
