Contestants performed the jive or the quickstep during week two of "Dancing With The Stars." (Last week fans sent home Ron Artest and Peta Murgatroyd.)
Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy (received all 7's last week) danced the jive. The soccer star said it was hard to go from morning soccer practice to dancing. Len Goodman called it crisp, sharp, and fast moving but said she lost her timing a couple of times. Judges scores: 19 out of 30
Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas did the quickstep this week. Ballas told her she couldn't get by on being cute. They were very in-sync in the quickstep and it was an elegant dance. Judge Len said she looked fantastic and that is wasn't as good as she looked. Judges scores: 22 out of 30
David Arquette and Kym Johnson worked hard in rehearsals doing the jive. Wow, they did really good and David has a million steps to memorize. Well done, I loved watching their performance! Carrie Ann Inaba said he was very enthusiastic. Len said he was almost speechless and said the technique wasn't there. Judges scores: 18 out of 30
Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmerkovskiy has a rough time during rehearsals, and a big argument. They seemed to have fun once on the stage. Their performance was much better than last week, in my opinion. Len Goodman said it wasn't great, but better than last week. Bruno called Elisabetta back on track, saying she has the ability. Judges scores: 21 out of 30
Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke seemed to have fun with the jive. I think he gave it a solid effort. Bruno said he "started to blossom and found his timing." Carrie Ann Inaba said he is a better dancer than Kim Kardashian. Even Len Goodman was impressed (and you know how hard that is). Judges scores: 21 out of 30
Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya gave an entertaining performance last week. This week they performed the quickstep and I bet it was dull (especially compared to last week). He is a natural performed, personaity-wise, but is that enough to keep in the competition? Judges scores: 18 out of 30
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough received great judges' reviews last week. This week they danced the jive with true enthusiasm. Len said there were a couple of steps that disturbed him a little bit. He said more jive content would have been good. Carrie Ann Inaba called it the best jive of the night. Judges scores: 23 out of 30
Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer closed the show last week. This week the quickstep proved to be a problem during rehearsals because Chaz said that his knees felt like they were going out. You could hear his knees crunching when he moved it back and forth. The dance was very, very slow but he was able to do some of the quick steps. Bruno said the quickstep has to be fast. Len said he "moved faster through the car wash." (Damn, Len a little much don't ya think?!) Judges scores: 17 out of 30
Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani did well last week in the Viennese Waltz. This week they performed the jive. They did well, but again the dance seemed a bit too slow. Carrie Ann said she enjoys watching her dance and then asked if she was injured. Len said it needed more excitement and that she played it safe (exactly). Judges scores: 21 out of 30
Nancy Grace and Tristan Macmanus had a slow start last week with the Cha Cha Cha. This week she shut down during practice and stopped cooperating. (Honestly, it was surprising that she didn't go home last week instead of Ron Artest.) They went on with the quickstep and did a better job this week. Wow, it showed the audience after the performance and they looked absolutely bored. Len called the dance refreshing saying she did it right and that it was a proper quickstep. Judges scores: 21 out of 30
J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff worked the jive all the way across the stage. He showed how strong he is by flipping Karina during the dance. They really do work well together. The audience gave a standing ovation. Bruno called it the "most satisfying dance of the night." Len called it a lindy hop, not a jive. Judges scores: 22 out of 30
Stay tuned for tonight's results show, along with performances by The Script and Demi Lovato.
