The Paramount Theatre is one of three gorgeously restored theatres in the Seattle WA area. It is not unusual for us to sit and crane our necks looking at the architectural details while waiting for a performance to begin. If you've never been there, it's worth seeing. To tease you into going, the January lineups at the Paramount is packed with goodies.

The Paramount has a running Silent Movie night each Monday night at 7:00 in January with Dennis James playing the Paramount's huge Wurlitzer Organ. The line up not only includes the movie but a lecture on each movie just prior to the showing. Tickets are $12.00. This movie lineup for January is The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Magician, The Bells and The Golem.

On the 8th, at 7:30pm, the Paramount will host the Blue Note Anniversary Tour. This jazz lineup includes artists Bill Charlap, Peter Bernstein, Ravi Coltrane, Lewis Nash, Nicholas Payton, Peter Washington and Steve Wilson playing the works of Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter in addition to many others. Tickets range from $28 to $42.

On January 18th, there are two performances at 2 and 7pm of classical Chinese dance and music from the DPA (Divine Performing Arts) group. The DPA states they are independent from China's politics and include artists who practice the Falun Gong meditation. Tickets range from $35 to $105 and no children under 3 are allowed.

On the 22nd, Garrison Keillor of A Prairie Home Companion fame, adored on NPR, and author of a number of best sellers arrives in town. Keillor does his song and comedy routine, which is sure to be a hit in Seattle. Tickets for this event range from $37.50 - $72.50.

In addition to this lineup, The Paramount's menu for January also includes O.A.R., Video Games Live, and Playhouse Disney Live.

The Paramount also offers tours of the restored theatre. The first Saturday of each month, on the corner of 9th and Pine, volunteer staff is available at 10am to give free tours of the theatre. The tour lasts 90 minutes. For more information on The Paramount Theatre or to purchase tickets to any of the January events, here is the contact information:
