When choosing a fragrance it is essential that our memory association with the particular odor is a positive one. Of course there are the commercially mass produced fragrances, however these do not generally have the personal connection to our senses like the more simple scents may have.
The brain's limbic system controls the emotional responses felt when specific odors are detected, and such odors can even affect our body temperature and our artistic and creative abilities as well as our current moods. One would be advised to carefully select a scent which when initially smelled, brings about a feeling of intense reflection and association to a wonderful past experience. A visual image of something connected to this memory will spring to mind, and you will know you have found the best scent for you.
Buying perfume you think others will adore you for, or because you may impress them by wearing the latest, most expensive brand is not recommended. Since we all have different likes and dislikes, not to mention that a fragrance which smells quite lovely on you, may not necessarily be so pleasant on somebody else. Hence, giving a gift of perfume is not a particularly good idea.
The aroma of peppermint has been scientifically proven to increase productivity, attentiveness to responsibility and efficiency in the workplace.
On a lighter note however, one may not wish to smell like an 'after dinner candy', but incorporating a couple of drops of the essential oil into your other scents may be a clever option before asking for that promotion!
It may be a fun idea to take notepads when you and your girlfriends go shopping for essential oils. You can make notes on what image or feeling first came to mind when testing the different choices, and your selections can be mixed to create the perfect scent for you. Invite a few other friends, open a bottle of Champagne and make an evening of discussing what you have discovered.
Always shop for something which gives you a wonderful feeling. Your happy, positive persona will rub off on those around you, and you will be the person everyone loves to spend time with.
