Perhaps

Heather Stottman
Perhaps in a moment,
With a nod of my head,
I will smile to myself,
On this stolen holiday.
Thinking of stolen icons,
Christianized and Commercialized,
Wondering at morning ceremonies,
For a Goddess of Fertility.

Perhaps I will hear the children play,
Laughing as they find,
Hidden, colorful, symbols of life.
Or wonder at the spring day,
And the sun that flowers bring,
Perhaps I will pet my cat,
And together we will sit,
In the afternoon sunlight.

Perhaps this day will go unnoticed,
Another lonely Sunday,
Amidst the others I have survived,
A day for cleaning and errands,
As friends and family,
Are too far away,
And love left me here,
In quiet isolation.
