Perhaps

For Marie

Orchiolum
Perhaps the future's path is turned
with the bleat and cry of the newborn voice
wailing forth from cave and cradle
where generations stand rejoiced.

Perhaps no livelier stage exists
than where first curtains call
young actors bend to ovation's dream
as critics forge the walls.

Perhaps no lonelier sound escapes
than the ancient lover's sigh
rising to warm the once shared moon
as the one heart beats goodbye.

Perhaps the pauper's last request
that hand and heart will yet know trust
ascending mountains of beautiful pain
before descending into dust.

This is not the quality of poetry we have become used to seeing online. I bow to your mastery.

Magnificent and transcendent. I agree with everyone's laudatory comments.
