We were invited to eat there this past week, and thought that we would give this Perkins Restaurant another try. This is our story.
We arrived, and were greeted by a host. She took us to our table, and gave us menus.
Our server came up almost immediately and took our drink order. She came back with diet soda for my husband, and decaffeinated coffee for me. The one thing I love about this chain is that I got a big pot of coffee, all for myself. No more trying to catch the eye of my server.
We looked over the menu, and Len decided to have a breakfast. He chose the Hardy Man's Platter. His consisted of 2 eggs, 3 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausage links, and smoked Kielbasa sausage. He asked if he could substitute sausage links for the bacon, and was told 'No' as it was a special. That really surprised us, because Denny's and IHOP will go out of their way to give us what we want to eat.
I fancied dinner, and decided upon the Shrimp Monterey Pasta, which was grilled shrimp, asparagus, tomatoes and creamy Alfredo sauce.
We talked for about 10 minutes, and our meals were delivered. Len looked at his breakfast, for $8.79, and looked at me. Normally he can only eat half a breakfast, at one of the big chain restaurants, but he would have no problem finishing this off.
My pasta didn't look very appetizing. The shrimp were in circles, which led me to believe that they came in frozen, the asparagus was only 6 very small, thin pieces, and the pasta was overcooked, with only a small amount of Alfredo sauce on it.
I should let you know that we were not paying for this meal, and so both Len and I ate. Len finished his, because he was hungry, and the pancakes were really small.
I played around with my food, and ate a very small amount of it. The garlic bread that came with it, was part of a roll, and the bottom hadn't been toasted at all. The shrimp were hard, with very little taste to them.
I have to say that the person paying for the meal, didn't ask us how it was, or did the server.
If my husband Len, and I had been eating here on our own, and paying for the meal, I know that I would have asked for mine to be taken back, and probably changed my order to a turkey, or beef dinner.
I believe my meal was over $10, so with drinks, it would have come to $25 including tax. I would have much rather gone to Chili's for their 2 can dine for $20. The food and service is always consistent, and enjoyable.

Thanks for sharing! I don't think we have those here in Tennessee, if so, have not seen them! I checked out a couple of your 'Health' articles but no place to leave a comment, Very good!
My family lives in the area so I will be sure to send them this review!
I have been to several and they do seem to be a hit or miss type of deal.
I've never been to a Perkins restaurant. I probably won't visit if I'm ever traveling and see one.
I'm sorry the food was disappointing.
My sis and I went to one in Florida somewhere and it was okay. I did like the idea we could refill the coffee cup ourselves.
The Perkins around here are very good - too bad you had not only one but two unhappy meals at the one you ate at. rcj
I used to work for Perkins a long time ago when I was living in Flagstaff. Thanks for this.... :o)
Sounds dreadful, I'll definitely avoid that place. Thanks for the warning.
