"Success comes with commitment."
You can't take them back.
Might as well be permanent marker,
not the ones that wear so well with time and water,
the ones the stink and ooze chemical permeability.
Everyday doesn't matter nearly,
as a strain of days strung together.
On the lake when I was a kid one fish wasn't worth
eating, unless the yellow and bloody strainer, was full.
Thus does change occur in distance not in instance.
Reality, the only page to mark, to dent, to tear.
They form themselves in all those books, chapters, and analogies.
Whatever metaphor your comfortable with,
your comfort is my only concern.
Change is never immediate, but earned,
a muscle bending and flexing beneath a weight,
where there was no strength before.
Still you can't erase some changes
you stare at the marks endlessly,
it won't change them.
It won't change them.
Don't devoid yourself of being
over a past that can't be changed,
no point bowing out when sadness is spilled
for that would be a waste.
You can't take them back.
