Personal Announcement: My Comments Are Behaving like Teflon!

M Smorg
Hello! This is really just a note of thanks to everyone who have stopped by to read my articles here (and some even managing to leave comments on them). I have been reading and attempting to comment on AC writers - favorites and unfamiliar alike - as always also, but somehow none of my comments are sticking.

There seems a known system bug that isn't allowing AC writers to stay logged on to their account while visiting articles (own or by others), which explains why all the comments are being left in 'guest' mode (with no link back to the commentor's profile page). My bug seems a bit different, though. Every time I leave a comment on an article (mine or others), it just disappears into thin air once I hit 'submit', and I get this rather off-putting notice on the next screen stating that: "Your IP address has been blocked from making anonymous comments." (A screenshot of it is used as this note's photo)

I have filed a bug report and mentioned it on the Help Desk forum here a few times but never heard anything back. Evidently this bug doesn't effect everyone since some others are still able to leave (much appreciated) comments on my recent articles.

In case anyone has been wondering why Smorg has been so take only and no give when it comes to commenting of late. My sincere apologies! I tried and I'm still trying, but I am not allowed to - apparently. :oP

Also, if you are an AC writer and haven't been getting comment notification emails, check your 'Email Settings' under the 'Account' tab and make sure that the box for 'Comment Alerts' is checked. Apparently the merge with Yahoo knocked that off for a few folks.

I also want to thank all the AC and Yahoo techs who are working like crazy to try to fix all the weird bugs that had popped up since the merge. They are doing their best, but the glitches seem quite ridiculously versatile. I guess the fact that many of us are using different operating systems and browsers that interface differently with the newly merged site isn't making their job any easier. :o(

Update: As of 10 Jan 2011 the glitch is still here. Sometimes I'd have a spree where I could comment as a guest, but it never lasts long. I could comment yesterday. Today I'm getting the 'your IP is blocked' thingy again. :o( Weird.

A lot of my stories do not even show a comment area anymore. Such a pain.

The log-in thing definitely gets annoying. Hopefully they get it fixed soon.

I REALLY love it when I have to log in, in the middle of publishing an article! My emails appear to be working correctly now: I receive comment emails and publishing emails for most if not all of my favorites.

Your comments have reached me of this late date, at least I think they have. If not I would not know the difference, I would just wonder where you disappeared to? There are a lot of varied flaws in AC since yahoo took over. I cannot stand having to log in every moment, Anyone else feel the crunch of having to log in at times, twice a day?

Thanks for the update Smorg! I had been thinking, that Smorg, always receiving comments, never leaving any! (Just teasing). I've been getting your comments, I think. Anyway, hope this all gets straightened out quickly.

It has been so crazy around A/C lately. We all understand, believe me!
