Personal Finance Product Review: Voyant @ Home

The Ultimate Personal Finance Product

Jean Marquit
In many cases, a family budget falls short in terms of actually helping you plot a future course for your personal finances. Most of the time a budget (while helpful and necessary) does very little beyond help you limit your expenses from month to month. A financial plan, on the other hand, can help you actually plot a personal finance course that leads you to your goals.

There are many programs and Web sites that will help you put together a budget. But there are very few that will help you put together a financial plan. One of those that can help you with a financial plan is a product called Voyant @Home.

Voyant @Home allows you to enter in your current financial information, as well as set some goals for the future. Then it tells you how much you need, and it helps you develop a plan for reaching those goals. Voyant isn't about a one-time plan, either. You can make adjustments to your plan. You can also change little parts of your plan and then compare them. Want to see what happens if you put $100 extra a month into a Roth IRA versus putting that $100 into a savings account? It's easy. And then you can see a comparison.

This also works with debt reduction. You can use Voyant @Home to plot your way out of debt and into financial freedom.

Free financial planning software

The Voyant @Home financial planning software is free. You download it for free and enter your information. If you want to further protect your privacy, you can leave address and name and other personal information blank. Some people put in an erroneous ZIP code. Obviously, your financial plan will be more accurate if you are honest about your finances, however. It is a good way to get an overall picture of your finances, in an easy to read format.

Free financial planning help

You can also get free financial planning help from professionals. Voyant @Home has a community that allows you to ask questions. There are also financial planners from prominent companies who will answer questions. If you choose to share your profile, they can recommend certain products and services to help you achieve your goals. You are in control of your profile, and you can block access at any time to any financial planner.

It is possible to chart a financial future. And you can do it with some free, state of the art, financial planning software.
