Personal Grooming Product Review: MicroTouch Max Personal Trimmer

If you don't read this review, you probably like looking like a Sasquatch! Otherwise, you probably need to consider a personal hair trimmer like the MicroTouch Max. If you don't want to look like CBS commentator Andy Rooney, Sasquatch, or Nick Nolte's infamous mugshot, you'll need a personal trimmer for detailed grooming and removing unwanted hair around your nose, ears, eyebrows, or neckline. When you are shopping, you may want to consider the "as seen on TV" MicroTouch Max.

Billed as the all-in-one personal trimmer, the MicroTouch Max runs off of a single AAA battery and has a built-in light to help you see trouble spots. The light is quite bright and can be helpful. When compared with other trimmers, the MicroTouch Max is dominated by a rubber grip around its body. The grip does allow you to get a solid grasp of the trimmer and exercise control with precision. The rubberized portion of the handle simply does not slip. The cylindrical body of the MicroTouch Max is about one inch in diameter and tapers down to the cutting head. This is a comfortable size and makes the MicroTouch Max easy to maneuver.

Unfortunately, the great ergonomics do not extend to this trimmer's on/off switch. To activate the MicroTouch Max, you must twist a completely smooth, chrome-finished, portion of the trimmer's body. I found this method of activation to be awkward and distracting. Other trimmers in this category use a more straight forward slider style switch. Of course, anyone can turn on this trimmer. But, I found it a little less convenient than similar trimmers that I have owned.

The MicroTouch Max comes with to trimmer attachments for a total of three trimming lengths (two, four, and six millimeters) and a cleaning brush. All are made of transparent plastic. I thought this was a nice touch. However, a short and long length are sufficient for trimming eyebrows. No one really wants a medium length hair growing out of their left nostril. Fortunately, you can use the trimmer without any attachment to completely eliminate errant hairs.

Overall, this "as seen on TV" product works as advertised. It can eliminate uni-brow, tame crazy eyebrows, and cut off pesky ear hair. However, there are other comparable trimmers in the market for a little less money. This trimmer costs around $10. Any of personal trimmer should do these personal grooming jobs. If you don't want to look like a Bigfoot, you would be well-advised to buy one.
