Personal MP3 Players - Music on the Go!

Derek Odom
If you don't have one of these little buggers yet, I suggest going and getting one! They are extremely handy, and can be packed full of your favorite music so you can listen when you want to!

I have a couple of tiny MP3 players, and let me tell you, they pay for themselves very quickly! The first MP3 player I got held two Gigabytes of music, and I liked it so much that I upgraded to a four Gigabyte model.

I listen to it all the time, too. When I'm out back working on things, I have my MP3 player. Not only does this provide me with all my favorite tunes while I am busy, but it doesn't bother the neighbors, either. Too many folks these days have billion-watt stereos; all I need is my tiny MP3 player!

I also ride my mountain bike a few times a week for exercise, and those little MP3 players fit the bill perfectly! I simply slide it into my pocket, route the cord up through my shirt, and go. Of course, one could sport an old CD player Walkman type thing instead, but let me tell you why the MP3 players are so much better.

Your music will not skip. Because things are in file form and stored on a mini-hard drive in the MP3 player, the music on it will not skip like a CD might. Also, going over bumps and dumps in the road will not affect the player; it just keeps on playing! This is especially important for those of us who use our MP3 players while being active.

MP3 players are updatable. Once you tire of a play list you have on the player, you can simply delete those songs, and add others! This is much less trouble than burning another CD which will only hold seventeen songs, anyhow. If you have audio books you would rather listen to, simply copy one to the MP3 player and listen!

MP3 players have sound options. These little units contain equalizers and options to customize the sound any way you want. They can be set for bass, treble, reverb, echo, all sorts of different ways. I really like this option, because I listen to a wide variety of music on my MP3 player, and I like it to sound premium.

MP3 players have settings not found on portable CD players. For instance, these tiny MP3 players can be set to play songs at random, or in a specific order. They also feature a lock or hold setting which disables all the buttons, making it possible to shove it in your pocket and not change songs or turn the MP3 player off accidentally.

I know what you are thinking. These babies probably cost a fortune, right? Wrong. Depending on the size you want, I have seen them for as little as ten dollars, and as much as fifty. My four Gigabyte MP3 player put me back about thirty bucks - not bad, considering the use it gets!
