Although the name suggests otherwise, this type of bath uses steam but, not the "steam" in the physical sense of the word (ie, invisible, gaseous water of more than 100 degrees Celsius). Otherwise you would burn your body! The steam bath makes use of steam fog formation at high humidity (and a temperature over 50 degrees Celsius).
Of course you can occasionally visit a public sauna or steam rooms, but in recent years more and more people decide to have their own bathroom sauna, steam shower or steam rooms to add, to supplement or even replace their traditional bath or shower.
Tips for buying:
A steam for most consumers is a new (and somewhat "exotic") product, which they do not always know exactly where they should look to purchase. Therefore here are some points:
1. Safety first.
Personal saunas use electricity in a very humid environment. It is therefore important that their operation should be thoroughly inspected by an independent safety check body and extensive investigations should be carried over. Approved steam cabins are identified by authorized seals like CE mark.
2. Reserve the space well before hand.
Of course, the personal sauna will be placed within the available space in the bathroom, but it's not a good idea to buy a very small cabin in which you can barely move (and perhaps get claustrophobia). The size of the steam depends on your requirement. For example, if you plan to use steam along with a partner, the steam cabin should be big enough to accommodate you both.
3. Options?
Many modern steam cabins have a number of extra features such as special lighting system for light or color therapy, a built-in radio or a jack for an external CD player. Of course, these will cost you an extra amount as you go on and add additional options. Therefore, think about these in advance, make a list of items that you will be really using in the steam cabin or the ones that are absolutely necessary for you. Otherwise you may pay hundreds of dollars extra for a useless gadget.
4. Convenience is should be given top priority.
If you steam regularly and more frequently, it must also be cleaned out and washed regularly. So, pay attention on the ease of use and maintenance of the cabin. Switches inside the steam cabin should be conveniently placed and they should not be clumsy. They should run for a longtime without any problems. So, check for the warranty on these little items which can otherwise annoy you or your fellow users. Also check that the cabin is made of a material that can be easily cleaned, and avoid steam cabins with "strange corners" that do little or nothing to clean!
5. Price.
Then of course, still remains the question: what should be the budget of a steam cabin or a personal sauna? Of course the price depends on various factors (such as the aforementioned options), but as a rule, you say that a good quality steam begins in about a thousand dollars, an extra large or luxury performance (for example, built a bubble bath, or combined with a sauna) is at least two-to three-fold.
