GOP Debate Views – Thursday September 22, 2011

As a Contributor Writer for Yahoo's Associated Content (at http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/13252/michaeltaylor.html) I was asked to tweet and submit my views at Twitter about the GOP Debate for Thursday September 22, 2011 as seen on Fox News Live from the internet at: http://live.foxnews.com/ Web site. I did that and the list of views can be seen at: http://twitter.com/#!/miketaylorviews Twitter Web site. Here I would like to say and share some of my views on the main issues I heard debated on and the responses.

The Federal Government is needed in Education to "look-out" for poor schools with talented kids who need real help.

Some of the GOP candidates expressed strong view that the "Federal Government" has no right in the education policies or management of our children education. That should be left to the State and local officials. But I believe many poor neighborhoods with public schools in America need federal help (and continuation of this) to contribute to the needs of poor schools/parents/ kids who may not benefit from local and state level programs. School Vouchers and other programs are still needed for poor "inner city" schools. Pure privatization of the education system will just make it very, very hard for poor kids with great educational academic talents to achieve the kind of help they really need to give them a chance to be educated and to achieve their full potential in America.

"Amnesty" for illegal immigrants is just unlawful and wrong. It sends the wrong message to Global Countries prospective Aliens.

America, in my opinion, must never grant total legalization to illegal immigrants on the basis of pure amnesty - rewarding them for doing the wrong thing. The legal system must be respected and adhered to by aliens who enter this country. To grant legal status for political gains is just disrespecting the Constitution, Federal and State laws that govern this issue. Illegal aliens need to go through the proper legalization process with the help and support of lawyers to get their legal rights in line with the Country Laws. Mass amnesty for those affected is just bad irresponsible governance policy that should never be agreed to and accepted by any political party, the Supreme Court, Federal, State, Local Government officials and by the people of this country.

It is unlikely that any GOP Candidate for President will ever support "full" Gay and Lesbian "rights" in the Military.

Religion and Lifestyles will always be hotly debated issues for any political party, religious organization, military and other essential institutions in any country - including America. Senator Santorum, I believe, is entitled to his personal and professional views as a GOP Candidate. And he will most likely never change his views about not supporting this point. So will many or even most of the other GOP Presidential Candidates. I am not a believer of gay and lesbian lifestyles - and I have never practice that kind of personal living. But I am a private individual with very, very conservative views about personal relationships. When you are in politics, it will be different. Although you must still hold fast to your personal views, the vastly growing liberal population in America will disagree with you, especially when you are seeking public office. Some will overcome this and still win an election. But not all can and will have the charm or intelligence to do so. The GOP Party Members on a whole have strong conservative views and have won Presidential Elections in the past. But here we are talking about individual candidates that may not have the ability to so. One candidate will hold his/her views against gay rights and still win, while the other will fail miserably. The GOP in general, I believe, will not agree and submit to liberal lifestyles.

Contrary to the GOP Candidates views, majority/many of the experts who have examined the Obama Heath Care Plan may say it's good.

The Candidates overwhelmingly are against the "Obama Healthcare Plan" as they call it. I am not a Medical Expert or Public Policy Expert who has examined the Plan to agree or disagree with the details. But some have expressed their views at: "Obama's Health-Care Plan: Doctors debate pros and cons" at: http://familydoctormag.com/doctors-office/1291-obamas-health-care-plan-doctors-debate-pros-and-cons.html Web site. If I remember correctly, I have viewed and heard many of the news debates and reports over the past 12 or so months, and many seem to be in favor of the Plan - but with some changes. The GOP Candidates seem, however, to still have a desire to get rid of it all together. That can only be done if they win the Presidency in 2012 or have majority control of both the Senate and House. Yet, they may ask the Supreme Court to decide and win in their favor - if that is possible. The Healthcare Plan may be a good (but not perfect) Plan for America. Some aspects of it may adversely affect the GOP Candidates and Party. But whether eliminating the entire Plan is good for Americans may not be correct and agreed to by most Americans.

"Obama Care" is not the cause of all the economic and employment problems we have - that is very misleading to say.

I am not sure of how the Candidates have come to this conclusion, but it seems to be very misleading to me -to say that Obama Care is the cause of all the economic and employment problems. Remember that the Obama Administration inherited a very serious financial crisis from the Bush Administration. Both Governors Perry and Romney seem to forget this issue. But we can understand this since it was a GOP Debate Platform. The Obama Administration, in my view, is failing to create sufficient jobs to get the USA working again at the desired speed and level. All the money that was spent and is still spending, seem to be working very, very slowly to solve the problem, or not at all - judging from the still high unemployment figures. We have about 13 months before the seriousness of the 2012 Presidential Elections enters its final round. It is not impossible for the Obama Administration to turn things around before then. But I strongly believe it will be very, very hard to do so. However, Elections are not won on only one issue, such as the employment crisis in America. Other issues will become evident and important in 2012. But the point is we just cannot say Obama Care is the cause of our economic and employment problems. That will just be irresponsible and misleading.

"Governments" do not destroy jobs-bad management will do that in the private/government sectors. Bad GOP leaders can do that too.

Poor management and leadership in the private and public sectors led the financial collapse that has adversely affected America since 2008. It was the very bad private sector business executive leadership that caused the crisis. And it was poor Government monitoring and responses to the problems that led to the ultimate results. In general, Governments do not really destroy jobs. Inefficient public and private sector governance principles and practices will do that. In some cases, bad policies can cause the problem. But to just say Governments destroy jobs is just wrong. Some States leadership in America, I believe, can say their Government roles have help to create jobs and prosperity - not to destroy their economies. We need to be more responsible about this issue and face the facts - not just talk from emotions to gain leverage from the public and to satisfy our own priorities.

Now to end, I still say the debate was just about Governors Perry and Romney. The others were just adding to the GOP image.

It is possible that the GOP Supporters and the general public who watched the debate will conclude it focused on Governors Perry and Romney. The others made valuable contributions. But the focus was on what those two candidates will say to the questions raised. Neither was impressive, in my view. They are still focusing on the vague stigma to criticizing President Obama and expressing promises of changes that will be difficult to accomplish if either one becomes President. Base on the state of the US economy, I believe that a GOP Candidate has a real chance of winning back the While House in 2012. But they must be very, very careful. President Obama is not a political novice and will not just hand over his job to any GOP candidate. He has a lot of work to do on the economy. But since we cannot predict exactly what will happen tomorrow and until November 2012, we just have to take this Presidential race one day at a time to see who win eventually win the White House in the 2012 Presidential Elections.
