Personality and Your Name

The Significance of Carrying Your Name and Being Named Your Name

Stephen Marshall
Personality, and the sound of your name.

What's in a name?

A name describes exactly who we are. The name comes first, and after being given a name at birth we come to exactly fit into the meaning, and into the mould of this particular name.

Our personality is contained within the sound of our name. The longer the name, the stronger is our personality. Those of us with shorter names like Bill, or Tom also usually have matching shallower personalities.

A strong sounding name like Brutus even sounds like the stronger personality that fulfils and lives through this particular name.

The name of a person or even of a thing creates an image to be filled both from within and without. The name depicts the conditions in which the name was given to the person or object, and so can describe quite accurately the object or things both within an inner and an outer way.

Knowledge about ourselves is linked to our name. Our name categorises our knowledge. Knowledge must first be systematised by naming and segregating different parts of it, in order to allow for further study of these parts to then take place.

When something is named or given a name, it reflects more than just the letters that depict the word making up the name. The particular arrangement of letters, the rhythmic rolling of the letters all linked together, the make up of the actual letters, and even their combined sound when connected together, and also individually separated out are all important.

A person's name influences the named one in such a way that the character of a person can often be seen from the way that they say their name and in how they pronounce it, and of course mostly from the actual name itself. A name can resonate to the person so named, or it can be mismatched in such a way that it's almost discordantly abrasive, and harshly heard, irritating to the listener when spoken by the owner.

Smooth sounding soft names like Arnold, or Kamal, or even Reynard and Ronella have a soothing affect on the listener and upon most other people. Sometimes the meaning of the name will be in opposition to the sound. Ronella for instance means rough island of all things and comes from the Norse, but I know you will feel the softness inherent within the sounding of this name. It is so soft that you could even use this particular name for your meditation sessions as a mantra.

These types of people have many acquaintances and close personal friends.

Hard sounding names like Rocky, Ricky, Wally and Clint upset or irritate a listener when hearing these names, and it is found from studying people with harsh sounding names that they actually have fewer friends than those with more pleasant sounding names. These people rub up against people like gravel or sand in your shoes just from the sound of their names alone.

Rhythm and balance are identifiable in names that repeat themselves in a sort of singing connecting cadence. An example of one of these names is Chris Christorfen, or even Guy Goguyya.

When our name lacks such balance we are heading towards a much harder life of only strife.

Balance can be seen in the number of letters within a name. An even number of letters shows that a person is rigidly uneven in all of his ways. An odd number of letters indicates an odd character that is being controlled by their own quest for personal power.

David is a name that has an odd number of letters, and Fred has an even number.

David is far more likely then to be a power hungry type of person, whereas Fred will be somewhat scattered in his attention. We would expect an even numbered name logically to be evenly balanced and not so scattered, but this is never so, the opposite is always true. A person that seems evenly balanced is far more often found to be out of his depth and lost within a turmoil of emotional stress hidden underneath his outer character.

This odd and even balance extends to the whole name. If all of the person's names, including their surname are even numbered in letters this reinforces their tendency to be inflexible and dogmatic in their characters. If there is a mixture of odd and even, this cancels out some of the affects, and if all names are odd in their letter length this only strengthens the disposition to follow these traits of the odd character being portrayed above.

Each letter of our name has a numerical value. When we add all of the numbers together we come up with a number called our hummer number. This number is what hammers us into following the personality that is inherent within our name. Numerology calls this your destiny number, but in reality it is far more not just a destiny, but a description of exactly who you have become from taking on this particular name.

To find this number, simply add the corresponding numbers that match the placement of the letters in the alphabet with your name.

Take for example the name John.

"J" is number 10, "O" is 15, "H" is 8 and "N" is14. We add these numbers together, and the resulting number is number 47.

This is the age that John will have his first major mid life crisis. At age 47, John will move into a new state or stage of himself. If he is aware of this, his life will be better accepted, but if not he will fight this change tooth and nail until he cannot fight it anymore. He will probably stay deep within depression for the rest of his life.

Names have a psychic affect upon those people who live as that particular name, or more accurately under that particular name. This psychic affect is strengthened at this mystical calculated age of 47 for John, and at the same calculated age for other similar people, and their likewise matching names.

The language that the name is written in is not important in regard to the number of letters, but it is important in the sound of the way that the name is spoken.

This is really all an exact science and another rule concerns the beginning letter of a person's name.

If the first letter is the letter "I" for Ian, this particular person will have a rather large and pompous ego. If the name begins with the letter "E," for example Elaine, we find that Elaine is a really shy and withdrawn person, because these type of people are split into different aspects of themselves, and that are being left unreconciled within them. They refuse to examine their own faults.

Our first name carries far more emphasis that our other names. The more that your name is used, the more affect it has on you and on your character. It has been said that we all love the sound of our own names, but in reality this is never really so good for us at all, especially when we have a name that mismatches or is misaligned with our true inner character.

A nickname will carry some extra oomph again, as it tends to be used far more often by anyone and everyone using it towards us. If we have the name Thomas, but are being called by the nickname Tom, Tommy, or even Tommie, these changes being made to our authentically given real name will cause us to live largely a double life. We will be split personalities, and never will we ever live up to our true potentialities.

It is far better to change our name if we find our self so misplaced and lost within our life. This will so often be the deeply hidden reason why we don't know ourselves. This is the case when for all of our life we have been searching to discover who we really are, and why we are like we are, without ever finding any real success in the search.

We are lost to ourselves, because we have the wrong name. We have been so misplaced by being named incorrectly that even we ourselves can not now find our true selves anywhere at all within our own selves.

Spiritual masters will often give their followers or disciples a new name like this, because they know that the real reason why this person has failed up until now was simply because of the wrong name being given to them by their parents.

Names are really that important. Vitally important.

A change of name will change who you are and completely rearrange your whole life. You will be born again as a new you. You will be renamed, resurrected and reborn as a new person.

What is then in a name?

I think that I have pretty convincingly shown you here that you yourself are often being hidden within your own name by your very name itself, and the real you could be lost somewhere behind this largely falsely assigned name that you are currently so inadequately living by.

Go out there and change your name right now. That's my advice to you all who are not being successful at the present moment, or if you do not like absolutely all of yourself in any way at all.

Remember how God himself always does this to bring about the much needed change in his own followers. Jacob was changed to Israel for example, and more famously Simon was changed to Peter or to Simon Peter and Saul was also changed to Paul.

Go and read the bible for an account of these famously historic name changes, and just compare the before and after snapshots of these men who were completely and utterly changed and who became afterwards uniquely new and different people simply as a result of changing their names.

These changes made an enormous difference to the people concerned. Simon changed from a weak type of person to a strong rock that was now so steadfast and dependable, that it was said of him that he was the foundation stone of the new church and newly formed Christian religion.

You will note that both of these last two names began with the same letter "S", Simon and Saul, and both names were changed to new names that also began with the letter same "P", Peter and Paul.

This was no coincidence. This was the power inherent and contained within the new names that were chosen for these two very different chosen men of God.

The letter "S" signified a weakness in their outer personality, whereas the letter "P" has now created a strengthened inner personality for them both in them both. This letter "S" also means inspiration, but it is often manufactured ego led inspiration of the wrong kind.

It is too dogmatically outwardly directed, and these people all crave to be able to wield a forceful almost demonic display of outer power, and so gain adoration, and they want to draw much outer attention from other people only ever towards themselves. They want power and grandeur.

The letter "P" refers to an acquiring of new knowledge, and much deeper insight, and this is now all inner directed. This simple change of names has completely transformed the newly renamed holders of the previously controlling old names that were so dominating them negatively before.

It is your name that makes you, you. It is always the cover that is really far more important than the book itself. Never let anyone ever tell you different now that you know these little known truths about the effects on you coming from your own name.

My advice to you all then in conclusion is, if you are not accepting yourself fully, your name is always the real reason why. Change your name now. This is so vitally important for you to do, even if you just take on a nickname of sorts to start with.

Changing your name will change you in more ways than even plastic surgery ever could.

Your name is that important. Meditate on your name by chanting it, and you will begin to feel deeply inside of you if it is really your true name or not. If it doesn't feel right, a new name will often come to you within your meditation session.

This certainly worked for me. My name was Archibald, and I have now changed it to Harry.

An inner name relates to your soul in such a way that it links the outer to the inner, and the inner to the outer. This is why your inner name must reflect and match to your outer name. When your parents are not spiritually orientated enough to name you to match your inner qualities this leaves you feeling misaligned, even disorientated within your own self.

Meditation has shown me that my inner name is actually Horace. This certainly relates to Harry, and which means a great ruler, whereas Horace means simply a time keeper, and it certainly takes time to become a great ruler.

What's in a name? Everything!

Especially if your name is James Watt.

If you want to discover your life purpose or mission look into the real meaning of your own name and names. The bible tells as that our name defines us as us. The book of Samuel in the old testament puts it this way. ''For as is his name, so is he.''

Bible names often reflect the character of the named person. Solomon means peace, and Solomon certainly had the wisdom of a peaceful man's disposition.

Any change being made to our inner identity or outer identity from lifestyle changes to inner revelation usually will cause a mismatching to now be felt if we keep the same old name. We should take on a new name under these circumstances.

It has been said that if we are greatly misaligned to our names, changing our names could prevent even our own death. The course of our life and its problems can be redirected from making a name change for ourselves. With our new name we become a new person.

Our parents can be divinely guided when they name us if they listen and become clear about who their own child really is. Otherwise they could just make a bad mistake, and give you a name that will cause you only problems. These problems serve their purpose however, as all things always do. If they lead you to be motivated to change yourself, all will have been worth it for you in the end.
It is never our name that forces us to be the way that we turn out to be, but our name has a profoundly deep transmitting power that can influence us if we remain unaware of its influence on us.

Our parents task of naming us is a spiritual one, and carries great inner power as it connects to the karma being carried between us and our parents.

The essential balance of a name to the person highlights the imbalances being carried within them, and by their karma that is attached to them. The greater the karma carried usually will be cause of a great mismatching of the true character of the soul to the outer personality representing the karma as personified by the window of the personality, our ego.

Most of us like our name. This is no coincidence. Our name has been probably inwardly matched to us by our parents. Even this is no fluke, because it is us in our soul body who have transmitted our naming requirements to our parents.
