Personality Test: Dove, Eagle, Peacock and Owl Personality Traits

Do You Have a Fowl Personality?

Heather K. Adams
Personality is as unique as a fingerprint. No one has the exact same personality traits. Differences in upbringing, environment, personal experiences and genetics all play roles in shaping one's personality traits. However, there are four distinct groupings of personalities: Dove, Eagle, Peacock, and Owl.

Think about that for a moment. What personality traits do each of these birds have? Which personality bird are you?

Personality Test: The Dove Personality Traits

The dove is the symbol for peace. Therefore, a person with a dove personality is typically easy-going and friendly. A dove is a people-pleaser and a team-player. A dove is loyal and hard-working, but tends to avoid conflict and confrontation. A dove likes to play it safe and doesn't like taking risks. Often, a dove would rather go with the flow than to be assertive in his or her needs. Typically, a dove has a submissive personality. A dove is a tenderheart and tends to think with emotions.

Personality Test: The Eagle Personality Traits

The eagle is a noble hunter. An aggressive bird, the eagle knows what it wants and takes it. A person with the personality traits of an eagle is bold and dominant. An eagle is highly analytical and decisive. He or she can be stubborn and insensitive to others' needs. An eagle tends to be self-centered and narrow-minded, losing track of the 'bigger picture'. Where a dove rules with emotions, an eagle can sometimes come across as being devoid of emotion.

Personality Test: The Peacock Personality Traits

The peacock is a showy bird, with its bright colors and beautiful tail feathers. It struts around, flashing those feathers to attract the females. Thus, it's not hard to imagine that a person with the personality traits of a peacock is someone who adores attention. A peacock loves to be noticed. He or she is gregarious and talkative. A peacock sparkles and is the life of the party. However, the peacock can come across as cocky and irresponsible. A peacock is generally not great with time management or dealing with details.

Personality Test: The Owl Personality Traits

Oh, the wise old owl. An owl knows all and sees all with its unblinking eyes. A person with the personality traits of the owl is logical and great at problem-solving. He or she may be good at mathematics and methodical in everyday tasks. The owl doesn't break the rules. An owl may be seen at times as a perfectionist, inflexible, and slow to react. The owl is a thinker.

Personality Test: Which personality bird(s) am I?

If I am going to be perfectly honest, and it's a test so I have to be, I have a combination of the peacock and the dove traits.

In public I am the peacock, shining as people pay attention to me. I can be cocky and people have complained I talk too much. Someone once remarked, "Girl, you talk so much I bet you talk in your sleep!"

But in my private life, I have the traits of the dove. I like to go with the flow. I'm not big on making changes. It panics me when I'm in charge on a personal level and have to make major decisions. I am a submissive person. I think with my heart, not with my head. I believe the dove is truly who I am.

Personality Test: Which personality bird(s) are you?

The personality traits each bird exhibits are genderless. A man can be a dove, and a woman can be an owl. Most people have the personality traits of more than one bird, like I do. However, there is usually a 'primary' personality bird. Mine is dove.

So forget about the Type A and B personalities, the color charts, alpha and beta, etc. Test yourself. Tell me which personality bird you are and why.

  • Forget about the Type A and B personality tests. Test yourself: which bird are you?
While it's true that birds of a feather flock together, it's not necessarily true with the personality birds. A dominant eagle may be the perfect mate for the submissive dove. The owl may lend some balance to the flashy peacock.
