Personalize Your Scooter for Cheap

Scooters are a fun accessory for youth and adults a like. We like to customize our belongings from our ipods to our cell phones, so why not a scooter? Fortunately, there are ways to customize a scooter for a good price that will still give a unique touch.

Skins:

While there are not skins out there specially designed to fit on a scooter, there are skins for laptops and other accessories that can be placed anywhere on your scooter if you desire. For example, http://www.snapfish.com gives you the option of creating laptop skins in whatever design you wish. You can choose from pre-customized images or you can upload your own photo or artwork and make your own. It's a neat way to show off your awesome artwork, a picture of your favorite band or even a photo of your family. The possibilities are endless and the skin peels off smoothly and stays flush against your scooter. Skins on Snapfish will run you around $19.

Etching:

You can purchase etching tools on http://www.ebay.com or even at your local hardware store, like Lowe's. Got an artist in the family or are you an artist yourself? Etch a cool design on your scooter or even your name and that will really personalize it. The etching tool will run you around $15 and is reusable for future projects, which is a great deal.

Spray Paint:

Get yourself a can of Krylon spray paint for around $3/can. Wal-mart sells this brand as well as hardware stores. If you have a knack at painting, you can create a customized piece of artwork on your scooter, such as a mini-mural. If you don't have the creative touch, you can still get creative by heading to a craft store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby and purchase a large stencil (usually found in the scrapbooking section) for around $2 per large stencil. You can spray paint flames or even a butterfly, depending on your taste.

Foot Grips:

If your scooter doesn't already have foot grips, head on over to an automotive store like Autozone or Pep Boys and pick up some foot grips for under $5/pair. There are usually several designs to choose from, but even if there aren't, you can purchase a plain one and decorate it using the spray paint method above.

Handle bar pads:

Most bicycle shops or even automotive shops and Walmart should sell these. They will run you around $5 for a pair. You can go for a more sporty look or even a leather look, depending on your taste and what is available. They are also a good way to keep your hands comfortable when riding in your scooter.
