There are many ways to personalize baby and kid clothes. You can print or embroider names or special wordings on the cloth or you can print digital photos on it. When it comes to buying a personalized photo blanket, there are few things you must know:
• Choose a blanket that is made from good quality cloth - if you can get organic cotton or soft wool, go with it.
• You can have multiple photos printed on the blanket. Select photos with colors that contrast well with the colors in the blanket.
• Use high resolution digital photos to get big prints without distortion.
• You will have to upload the photos to the professional's website in JPEG, GIP or PNG format. If your original digital photos are in some other format, use software to convert it to one of the required formats. Do not compress the image during the conversion.
• Usually your photos will be printed on one side of the blanket. You can also order special printing or embroidery of some saying or fun pictures like birds, rattle, teddy bear, etc. along the borders of the blanket or the edges of the photos.
If you order from a store, personalized baby blankets can cost around $60-$150 and can take 1-3 weeks to ship. The cost depends on the number and size of the photos and the size of the blanket. Unlike t-shirts or bibs, blankets are washed less often - so they last much longer. Many moms may like to preserve them as a keepsake. So though a little expensive, they make perfect gifts.
You can also make a personalized baby blanket yourself using the following tips.
• Use iron-on paper to print the digital photo using an inkjet. Flip the photo using software from left to right.
• Place the photo face down on the portion of the blanket where you want to print it and press down evenly with a hot iron.
• You photo will transfer to the blanket. Follow iron-on paper instructions for the first wash.
• Use your creativity to print more pictures or words in a similar way. You can have glow-in-the-dark prints too.
Making the blanket yourself is a deeper expression of your affection for the baby. You can get a good blanket for $30-$40 and iron-on paper for $4-5. The glow-in-the-dark add-ons would cost about $2 a piece.
