Pet Armor Plus

A Flea Product for Dogs

Deborah Anderson
Pet Armor Plus, a new flea product for dogs and cats, is a "generic" alternative to Frontline Plus. Pet Armor Plus has the same ingredients in the same percentages as the familiar flea and tick product. This is excellent news for dog and cat owners because Pet Armor Plus is a true generic product, meaning that it costs far less than the name brand product, up to 50% less in some stores.

One question that immediately comes to pet owner's minds is how did the makers of Pet Armor Plus legally market their product? The simple answer to this question is that the patent that Frontline has or had on their product has expired, opening the door for Pet Armor Plus and probably many more products. Even though this may not be good news for the makers of Frontline Plus, it is excellent news for pet owners, not only because it makes the product cheaper, but also because it makes the product safer for use due to it being the same as Frontline Plus. Both flea products have 9.8% Fipronil, 8.8% S-methoprene and 81.4% inert ingredients. Fipronil is the product that kills the fleas and provides full body protection for the dog for up to 30 days. S-methoprene prevents the flea eggs from hatching and thus prevents any larvae from growing into fleas.

Pet Armor Plus not only kills fleas and prevents their eggs from hatching, it also kills ticks and chewing lice. It works fast, lasts a long time and is water proof. It is also safe to use on puppies that are 8 weeks of age or older.

Using Pet Armor Plus is as simple as following a few steps. First of all take a pair of scissors and snip off the top of the package that holds the pipette. Next, pull the foil back off of the package and now the pipette is easy to remove. Remove the pipette and simply twist or snap the end of the pipette to open it. Now part the dog's hair somewhere between its neck and shoulder and empty the pipette on to that area. Be sure that all the product is out of the pipette. All that is left to do now is to dispose of the pipette and soon your dog will not have any fleas bothering it. Don't forget to mark a calendar so that Pet Armor Plus can be reapplied in 30 days.

Actually, Frontline's patent does not expire until 2024. If PetArmor is exactly the same as Frontline Plus then they are selling their product illegally.

As always, you get what you pay for. I tried PetArmor and it didn't work. I could have poured water on my three cats and it would have done the same. I like to save money but find I can do well shopping at other stores rather than Wal-Mart.
