Pet Boarding Near Ogunquit, Maine

Go on Vacation and Take a Friend

Robert Rousseau
The majority of Maine is a beautiful area known for it's hiking, mountains, wildlife, and general woodlands. But the southern coast of Maine is renowned for something far more than the foliage, wildlife, trees, and rock formations- it's claim to fame are the gorgeous New England beaches. Still, for pet owners the serene feeling that overcomes would- be vacationers when thinking about sitting lazily on the sands of Ogunquit Beach (or nearby Wells and York Beaches) as the tide rolls in tends to dissipate quickly. After all, the hotels willing or able to accommodate pets in the area are the far minority. Besides, pets aren't allowed on most beaches in the area during the summer months; thus, what would your canine or feline friend do on your vacation? Further, what will you do if the pet friendly hotel you're staying at doesn't allow you to keep your pet in the room when you're gone?

Considering pet boarding, that's what.

Our dog stayed in Thee Privileged Pet in York, Maine during a recent trip to Ogunquit and it was a wonderful experience. Here's why.

1) Our dog is an epileptic. In other words, he has terrible grand mal seizures at least once per month. Along with this, he takes medication several times per day. The staff at Thee Privileged Pet were quite accommodating to his plight. First, they were willing to take him on (something that not every kennel is willing to do in such cases). Second, they claim qualified veterinary technical assistance on premise 24 hours per day. Third, they were equally willing and able to dispense his medications.

2) Unlike nearly every other kennel known to man, Thee Privileged Pet does not charge you for extra walks. If you've ever dropped your pet at a kennel, then you know the deal- usually they're willing to walk your dog for a fee. Not at Thee Privileged Pet, though. There they walked our pet 4X per day free of charge. That's right! Four Times.

3) We had never left our dog in a kennel before and were nervous to do so. Along with this, we called three times during our vacation to make sure our furry buddy was okay. What met our concerns on the phone each and every time was a kind, considerate worker willing to put our mind at ease.

4) Thee Privileged Pet staff were not only willing to show us where our dog would be staying- they offered to show us. Along with this, the dog area was quite clean. Further, the canine and feline areas boast radiant heated floors, central air, and piped in music.

5) They offer ice cream socials (again, it's included).

6) Last, the workers were friendly and our dog came back to us happy and healthy!

A thank you to Mr.Rousseau for his glowing report on Thee Privileged Pet in York. I work there and it's all true. All of us there love dogs and cats and feel we give great care to any and all, even the grouchy ones, the old, blind ones, the diabetic, insulin-injections-twice-a-day ones, the scared, rescued ones, the drag-your-arm-out-of-its-socket ones. We adore them all!! Beth L.
