In unrelated pet news, after six heartbreaking days of unsuccessful efforts to locate her lost beloved terrier Thelma, Lani Savage-Leuch's hopes soared when Missing Pet Partnship (MPP) Volunteer Jim Branson and his search dog Kelsy arrived to help. Through the agency Jim had spent nearly 18 months training his canine, a black Labrador mix rescued from the pound, to track the scent trail of lost creatures like himself.

"Although Thelma had been missing in Woodinville, WA for six days there were fresh sightings of her, so there was a glimmer of hope," stated a press release.

MPP's mission is to help people find their lost companion animal family members.

You can make a donation through Paypal or by sending a check made payable to "Missing Pet Partnership" to Box 3085, Federal Way, WA 98063, become a member of MPP, honor a friend by remembering a lost pet on the organization's "Wall of Hope" page, make an in-kind donation of a "wish list" item, take action in your own community, and promote collars with tags and microchipping for every pet.

MPP urges citizens to call the number on lost pet fliers to refer them to the free information and self-help ideas on their website, missingpetpartnership.org.

The MSPCA-Angell Animal Shelter in Boston, Mass., has an Equine Ambulance Program, founded in 1868, which has evolved into the nation's pre-eminent service in horse emergency response and rescue.

"We have revolutionized the level of expertise available to companion horses and equine athletes in need of urgent veterinary care," states mspca.org. "The MSPCA developed and distributes the original Rescue Glide, changing the way we move downed horses."

In 1994 the agency launched the first national training program in Equine Rescue and Emergency Transport and to help horse owners throughout New England deal with emergencies, the organization also offers a Veterinary Referral Service.

For over a decade, the Sport Horse Ambulance Service has protected horses competing in events across North America.

To make a donation toward the program, write The MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or call 978-687-7453 #6124.
