So much to her dismay, she's had many doctor visits regarding her ears. I had tried many ear cleaners for dogs that you would normally buy at supermarkets or places like Target or Walmart and her ears would just get worse which was completely frustrating. I just couldn't find a product that would clean her ears properly without any flare up. They were extremely sensitive. So when she was taken to the vet years ago, ear medication was given along with an ear cleaner by Vet Solutions that you can use on dogs and cats. Surprisingly, her ears responded well to this product. It was a little pricey as it was 12 dollars for an 8 oz bottle, more than a dollar an ounce, but she needed it.
When she ran out, I decided to look online for something with similar ingredients. Guess what I found? A brand called Otiderm and amazingly, it had the exact same ingredients but at a cheaper price! I bought it immediately. I later found out though that I was overcharged for the Vet Solutions Cleansing Solution at the veterinarian as this one over the Internet is probably only a dollar or two more than the Otiderm.
The Otiderm Cleaning Solution though is more cheaper. What the product boasts is that it freshens, dries, cleans as well as acidifies with one application. This brand works beautifully on my dog but I do have to apply it every day while other dogs might only need it once or twice a week. Her ears have gotten to a point where they must be cleaned daily and it will be like this for the rest of her life but I get no bad flare ups with this brand! It also has a nice smell to it which I believe is the aloe vera. I use this on my male dog as well whose ears are next to perfect. He only needs a cleaning once a week. I highly recommend this product! If you are interested, below is the website where I purchased it from. They are completely reliable as I have been buying from them for years.

Post a CommentThanks for the great review on Otiderm; I have recently tried it for the first time on my standard poodle, who gets persistent ear infections caused by yeast overgrowth. The yeast need an alkaline environment to thrive; as you mentioned, Otiderm acidifies the ear canal, killing the yeast and keeping conditions in the ear healthy.
Two paws up!
