Pet Supplies, "Beautiful Horny Young Girls" and How I Got 2 Free Bags of Science Diet Dog Food

It was your typical drizzly day, the type of day when you all of a sudden notice that you're out of something. So I harness my dog, no I didn't ride him to the store though he is big enough, put him on the back seat of my car and away we go.

The usual scenario played out once we got to this chain store, my dog was so excited to smell all of his brethren that had visited the store previously that day that he was all over the place.

It's a good thing that this store has relatively smooth tile floors or he'd be leading me around the store instead of the other way around.

We strolled down the toy aisle, just in case he saw something he liked but this time around there was nothing he wanted so I grabbed what I needed and we headed to the checkout.

Now I should clear up a couple of things, firstly, I am not mentioning the name of the Chain-store because they really acted very responsibly and I appreciate it when a business does the right thing to make their customers whole and quickly at that.

The second thing I need to explain is that when I take my dog down the toy aisle I let him pick out his own toys, after all he knows best what would like, and he'll pick up the low hanging toy and carry it to the register while I carry the items I need to buy for my various pets. Naturally this includes my dog.

Back to the story, so there we are waiting in line at the checkout register and finally the line thins out and it's our turn to pay. I pay for my items, the girl at the register hands me my receipt and before I walk away she tells me that if I call the number on the bottom of the receipt within the next few hours I'll get $2.00 off my next purchase.

Well, if you shop for your pets then you know how much having a coupon really helps and this was going to be no different.

Soon we were back in the car and driving home, I unharnessed Rex and picked up the phone to take this survey that was going to save me $2.00. I dial the number and a message that I could barely understand, due to how quickly it flew by, played over my speaker-phone. It said something about calling some other number but I didn't catch any of that so I thought I should call the number again.

I dial the number from the receipt a second time and this time I'm ready to listen intently as I knew the message would fly by quick again.

Sure enough, once I got connected the message started to fly by at the speed of light but I was able to write down the telephone number that was mentioned in the message and since it was going to save me $2.00, well I had to somehow take this survey.

I hang up and call the new number and the message I am greeted with says, and I'm paraphrasing here, "We've got the most Beautiful Horny Young Girls just waiting to talk to you." To say that I was surprised is an understatement, there is a hole now in the floor that my jaw made when it dropped and I couldn't believe what I just heard.

I must have mis-dialed is all, let me call again and I'm sure that all will be right and I'll take their silly survey, which is worth $2.00 to me and my dog. So once again I dial the number and once again I am greeted with the same message about the "Beautiful young girls waiting to talk to me."

Once I was able to pick myself up from the floor after laughing for what seemed to be hours, I thought that this has to be some kind of mistake and even worse, I'm pretty sure that the company is not aware of the situation. Worse still, what if some kid decides that he wants to take the survey so that he can save $2.00 on his next purchase?

Something had to be wrong and it had to be fixed fast! I looked at my receipt and found that the number to the national office for this Chain-store was also printed on there. I grabbed the phone and soon I was discussing the situation with a customer service representative. I told the rep what happened and all of a sudden I hear the rep talking to someone who I later found out was a manager of some sort. I know this because all of the sudden I find myself talking to the manager.

I tell him quite honestly that the store I was at informed me that if I called such and such number and took a survey I would get $2.00 off my next purchase but that instead of a survey I found myself hearing about "the most beautiful horny young girls waiting to talk to you."

I told the manager that there are many kids that have pets and they are even more likely to call that number that saves them $2.00 because kids generally have even less money to spend on their pets. If suddenly they are greeted with "Beautiful, young, hot horny girls that are just waiting to talk to me" this could certainly cause a problem. Not only for the kid, who would certainly inform their parents. In turn, the parents would be calling the national office of the chain-store with complaints and even possible law-suits.

The manager was very upset that this had been my experience with the "survey number" and told me how sorry he was and that he would make sure that this would never happen again.

I asked him, "what about my $2.00 off my next purchase" coupon and here is where things became complicated. The manager told me that although the company is very sorry for what happened but they just aren't able to give me the $2.00 off.

Then the manager surprised me though, he asks me "Sir, I am looking at your previous purchases and I noticed that you have bought Science Diet dog food from us." "How about we credit your account so that the next two times you come into our stores to purchase dog food, you'll receive both bags of Science Diet dog food for free?"

Now anyone who knows anything about dog food, and Science Diet specifically, knows that it's not exactly an inexpensive item. So getting two bags of the stuff for free as an apology/thank you from this Chain-store was far better then any $2.00 coupon.

So there is a lesson to be learned here for everyone, firstly the lesson is that corporations make mistakes and they appreciate being informed of those mistakes .

The second lesson is that it pays off to be a conscientious consumer who pays attention and gives feedback to the company that made the mistake.

You see, had I done nothing I wouldn't have my $2.00 coupon or any free Science Diet dog food and if the company hadn't made things right with this customer this article would bear their companies name throughout, slamming them with some glee. Instead I'm praising them for a job well done in protecting the consumer when they are made aware of mistakes and potential disasters.

In essence, everything turned out well, my dog got his favorite brand of dog food, I saved quite a bit of money by getting that dog food gratis and the Chain-Store is happy because they averted a catastrophe.
