PETA: When Animal Rights Becomes Terrorism and Crime

People Who Aren't Treating Animals Ethically

Davis Prebot
PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is the most well-known animal rights group in the world. For decades, PETA has labored for the well being and rights of animals, with an ultimate goal of "total animal liberation." Unfortunately for America, and the world, PETA has become something entirely un-American: a group dedicated to inflicting fear, terrorism, violence, and suffering upon humanity.

First, let's review what PETA means by "total animal liberation." PETA defines this as follows: No wearing of leather, fur, or any other animal product; no eating meat or drinking milk; no eating of eggs or honey; no zoos, circuses, 4H, or any other animal exhibition; no fishing or hunting; no medical testing of any kind upon animals, and no pets.

That's right. No Pets. What, you thought PETA only got angry at people wearing fur and leather? That's only a small part of what PETA does. Just imagine a world based on PETA's goal: There would be no farming of cattle or chickens, no meat, eggs, or honey in your grocery store. Millions of farmers around the world would lose their livelihoods, and a major part of the human food supply would be gone. Children, who need milk as a crucial part of their growth, would be crippled.

Anyone who likes to hunt or fish, whether for recreation or to obtain the furs, skins, and meat, would be a criminal. All leather, fur, and even silk would be banned. (PETA says it is cruel to use the silkworms to make silk.) The county fair will have no animals of any kind. 4H would have to close up shop. All zoos would have to close. Knut, the adorable polar bear cub in a German zoo, would have never been born, despite his entire species being in danger. All the species preservation and conservation work conducted and funded by zoos would end. Entire species that only exist in captivity would become extinct.

No medical testing on animals would be permitted, meaning that thousands of new medicines and health care products would either never reach the market at all, or take far, far longer to do so, resulting in unimaginable human suffering and sickness. Finally, most odious of all, there would be no pets. No cats, no dogs, no fish, hamsters, snakes, birds, or any other animal you share your home and yard with. All these animals would have to be removed from your home and allowed to live "wild and free."
None of these statements are false, or even exaggerations. All are from direct statements and explanations by PETA themselves. Does that sound like a world you want to live in?

PETA claims to be dedicated to saving animals. Did you know that, according to PETA's own records (which are available for public review) PETA spends less than 1% of its $13 million budget on actual care, housing, feeding, and home-finding for animals? In fact, PETA literally puts animals to death via lethal injection, which they claim is 'more humane', and then leaves the dead animals in garbage dumpsters! PETA representatives collect animals that need homes, only to kill them. If you don't believe me, check out the supporting links of this article for the news stories that substantiate these facts.

Finally, PETA directly provides funds and support to two groups, ALF and ELF. Those acronyms stand for Animal Liberation Front and Earth Liberation Front. These two groups make it their business to attack innocent people for wearing fur or leather, attack and burn research labs, harass and intimidate scientists and workers, and attack and burn people's new homes, just for having been built somewhere ALF and ELF disagree with! These people fit the definition of terrorists: persons who use fear, intimidation, and infliction of harm in order to achieve radical goals.

The Earth Liberation Front, on September 4, 2002, made the following public statement: "In pursuance of justice, freedom, and equal consideration for all innocent life across the board, segments of this global revolutionary movement are no longer limiting their revolutionary potential by adhering to a flawed, inconsistent "non-violent" ideology. While innocent life will never be harmed in any action we undertake, where it is necessary, we will no longer hesitate to pick up the gun to implement justice, and provide the needed protection for our planet that decades of legal battles, pleading, protest, and economic sabotage have failed so drastically to achieve."

PETA actively supports this group, with money and legal counsel that has rejected non-violent means and is promising to use 'the gun' to achieve their goals. That, my readers, is terrorism. Don't take my word for it, though. Take it from the Testimony of James F. Jarboe, Domestic Terrorism Section Chief, Counterterrorism Division, FBI, before the House of Representatives, addressing eco-terrorism:

"During the past several years, special interest extremism, as characterized by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), has emerged as a serious terrorist threat. Generally, extremist groups engage in much activity that is protected by constitutional guarantees of free speech and assembly. Law enforcement becomes involved when the volatile talk of these groups transgresses into unlawful action. The FBI estimates that the ALF/ELF have committed more than 600 criminal acts in the United States since 1996, resulting in damages in excess of 43 million dollars."

If you want to make a difference and help animals, avoid PETA and everything they stand for. Volunteer or make donations to your local Humane Society or animal shelter. Participate in a beach or park cleanup. Patronize your local zoo. Adopt a pet that needs a home. Above all, don't fall for PETA's lies.

To people who do not believe PETA is against the existence of pets:

    http://www.peta.org/about/why-peta/pets.aspx

True, they don't want to go out and kill all existing ones, but they want them ALL spayed/neutered so they cannot reproduce. If dogs and cats do not reproduce, then they will no longer exist.

Also, dog and catfood is made from the leftovers of animals killed for human consumption. If everyone was a vegan like PETA wants, then what will they be fed? Do you honestly believe PETA is going to support slaughtering cows and chickens to feed pet dogs and cats?

This is dumb and this person does not read their facts. Are lactose-intolerant children crippled? Well, no, because we would have alot of crippled children. In fact, around 60 percent of adults are lactose-intolerant. SO IT MAKES US ASK OURSELVES, are we made to drink cows milk? or is cows milk intended for baby cows? Also, you prick, we have almond milk and soy milk which has the same amounts of nutrients. BLABLA BLA you are dumb check your facts.

I also don't see peta telling us we can't have pets, anywhere. It encourages us to adopt instead of feed into the huge underground industry of puppy mills, where people breed dogs in unsuitable conditions (blistering heat, no vet checks, living in their own urine, may I go on?) When you buy from a puppy store, yes you are buying a puppy. You are also paying people thousands of dollars to continue to abuse and kill animals. Thousands of dogs in shelters are euthanized daily. The pet store is not the only place to buy a pet.

    So l

Carl, that is the dumbest list of websites I've ever heard. I've read Peta.org. I've checked the forums (Peta2 is a large group of 16 year old girls-- paraphrased quote: "I KNOW my parents are real good about me being a vegan and make me vegan food BUT THEY STILL EAT MEAT AND I HATE THEM!") ...Basically, you are a fool, and those websites you've linked are ridiculously biased.

PETA is worse than Scientology sometimes.

Yeah, so Carl, what about the plants? They are equal to people too, in my opinion. I don't deny that animals are equal to humans, but I think we should eat meat, after all it would give farmers money and ourselves some decent nutrition. (and don't start blabbing about how meat is unhealthy, I don't want to hear that false shit)

Now, you might say "we don't need meat to survive". Guess what? We don't need vegetables either. Or houses or cars or tv's or computers or staplers or pencils or the number 4. We could just live on the fluid that keeps people in comas alive while living in caves.

All of your websites are too biased to be of any good help. Next times, just find statistics, not some propoganda.

Now, as for pets, there are multiple breeds that NEED care to survive. I have a betta fish that was bred to be a pet. It would hardly survive half a month in the wild, and it's short existence would be quite painful.

    I hoped I filled YOUR

Carl, well, look at you. Judging by intelligence! Well done, my prejudicing friend.

  • AGAINST PETA!!! 11/30/2010

Terrorism is defined as political violence in an asymmetrical conflict that is designed to induce terror and psychic fear (sometimes indiscriminate) through the violent victimization and destruction of noncombatant targets (sometimes iconic symbols). Such acts are meant to send a message from an illicit clandestine organization. The purpose of terrorism is to exploit the media in order to achieve maximum attainable publicity as an amplifying force multiplier in order to influence the targeted audience(s) in order to reach short- and midterm political goals and/or desired long-term end states."[25]

That is the dictionaries exact definition of terrorism. Fits PETA to a T! Even if it isn't PETA members going out and committing these crimes themseleves they're supporting it financially. Guilty by association! Actually I ran across this article while doing research to give a speech at my college next week... speaking out against PETA and their terrorist and hypocritical ways

First off, PETA is NOT the ALF or the ELF! We are NOT terrorists and we do NOT believe it is ok to hurt anyone pysically and especially not burn down someone's home! We don't believe that animals are more important than humans, we simply believe that they are our equals, we are ALL animals. Regardless of your own politics, you should NOT force yours on people. Also I'd like to point out that what we do is give facts, not opinions! They are two very different things, and all we try to do is share the facts with people.

Mnay regard us as "bat-shit" crazy(old, but good one;) and perhaps compared to those who dont see an animal as having more rights than a chair or table, I guess it would be. You cannot choose to love your cat or dog but then eat a cow or pig, how is that ANY different than eating your pets?! Did you know that pigs are actually smarter than dogs? It is also known and said that Pigs are even smarter than a 3 yo child. Why would it be ok to eat a human child of that same ag
