PETA Attacks President Obama Fly Swatting -- Now a Viral Video
Obama Performed "Executive Insect Execution," Claims PETA
According to Reuters, PETA spokesman Bruce Freidrich said, "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals." PETA even sent the President a fly capturing device that safely entraps a fly until it can be released later.
The scene itself was straight out of the "Karate Kid," except instead of capturing the fly and letting it go, President Obama swatted the fly that landed on his forearm, killing it. The video on YouTube has been seen nearly a million times.
Talk show hosts, like Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon, made jokes about the Obama fly incident. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert both did a fake news story on the killing. Stephen Colbert even brought in the dead fly's wife and 93 kids for an interview -- in a jar. When none of the flies spoke up to talk about the executive, Colbert said that they were probably "choked up" because of their loss.
President Obama, during the taping of an interview with CNBC on Tuesday, interrupted his own interview by growing suddenly quiet, tracking the fly to his forearm, then swatting it onto the carpet. He told the cameraman that he would want to get a look at the fallen pest. The cameraman did and now the video has gone viral.
Through it all, the President remained calm, even commenting on the "execution" in bemusement. He said, "Where were we?"
"No Drama" Obama indeed.
And PETA was outraged.
One blog on the activist website referred to President Obama's action as an "executive insect execution." The blog also said that the organization had received numerous calls from various media outlets wanting to know their official stance with regard to the killing.
It is somewhat amusing that PETA seems to have made more of a fuss over President Obama killing a fly on camera than was made over the Sarah Palin's obliviousness to a guy killing turkeys in the background during a Thanksgiving photo op in Alaska.
Regardless, let it be known that the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, would hurt a fly. In fact, he killed one. Right on camera. He eyed it, gauged it, waited a few seconds, then smacked it. All during an interview with CNBC.
See the video.
Be amazed.
Tell your grandchildren. Better yet, show them the video.

Post a CommentAre they really concerned about what happens to that fly, or do they just want to bash Obama for something? It makes what could be a good organization (PETA) seem like a bunch of hippy douchers
Great writing, I heard about this.
PETA is so out of whack.
I'm with Justice on this one. I am seriously into animal rights, but PETA is seriously MENTAL.
PETA Is asinine to the core! No one loves their critters as much as me, but their outrage over President Obama KILLING A FLY only proves just how mentally ill they really are! (My God; an "Execution, for Christ sakes!)
When you think a group of people couldn't be more nuts...
I think Obama was actually sending a subtle message to North Korea's Kim Jong-il.
It's a freaken fly, a bug, an insect, there are millions of them. God, we killed dozens of them the last few weeks - quick send me to prison!
