Pete Carroll is leaving USC (officially) to coach the Seattle Seahawks. Rumors about Pete Carroll leaving USC to coach the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 can now be called fact, as the two side has reached an agreement for the 2010 season and beyond. The interviewing of candidates has been completed, and the official press conference is expect to be on Monday where Pete Carroll talks about leaving USC and takes the job of the head coach for the Seattle Seahawks. ESPN reported that the deal is 100% done this afternoon, and it starts the Seahawks on yet another road with their third head coach in three years now.

This won't be the first time that Pete Carroll has coached a team in the NFL, as he was a head coach for both the New England Patriots and the New York Jets in the 1990's. He also served as an NFL defensive coach to the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills before he went to the New York Jets to coach. Most football fans know Pete Carroll from what he has been able to accomplish at USC in the past 10 years though, as he led the USC football program back to the top of the college football world and kept them there until a bit of a rough season last year in the Pac-10 Conference. Now Carroll will try his hand in the NFL once again, and fans are showing mixed reactions.

Seattle Seahawks fans have been taking to Facebook and Twitter, many announcing that they are either intrigued about the selection or worried that Seattle is moving in the wrong direction. An equal number of Pac-10 fans from the University of Washington and Washington State University are just happy that the USC Trojans just lost the coach that has beaten up on both schools for the past 10 years. The decision by Pete Carroll to leave USC could send a ripple effect through their recruiting of players, and it could also cost USC a number of people who may have only verbally committed to come to USC at this point. That's none of Pete Carroll's concern though, as he is moving on to the NFL, and taking over a Seattle Seahawks team that could use a lot of help on both sides of the ball.
