Pete from Palmdale, CA has rescued many dogs that were dumped in the desert and did the very best he could to save them, according to one advocate.
"Many rescues will help him get them adopted out. Funds are needed to get them medical treatment first," says Kat Laine-Adams, Facebook group page administrator for the man's page.

Dogs Deserve Better (DDB) has recently developed a coloring book entitled "Happy Dog" that educates children about why dogs should not be chained and left unsocialized. Deliverables include 20,000 coloring books at a cost of $5,000. The $20,000 is the minimum representing children educated in disadvantaged areas.

The group is also organizing a Chain Off event to advocate and educate, highlighting the reality that tens of thousands of man's best friends in every state are still America's chained and penned dogs, according to Shannon Eaton Allen, Facebook group administrator for Dogs Deserve Better of the New River Valley, VA.
"This will be my first Chain Off season as a Dogs Deserve Better rep and I'm trying to get a Chain Off planned for some time between now and the July 4th weekend," Allen says. "It is my intent to have a DDB booth and to get the media there."
For inquiries to participate by chaining yourself to a tree or doghouse for eight to 12 hours with Allen, contact her at ddb.nrv.va@gmail.com.
