Peter Pan is Back!

Do You Remember the Delight of a PBJ Sandwich?

Clark Richards
Peter Pan is back! No, I don't mean that mischievous little boy who spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the island of Neverland in the company of that little fairy Tinkerbell who can sprinkle pixie dust about and make us happy.

I mean the peanut butter brand that possesses its' own special ability to goo up my innards, clog my arteries and convey a sense of tranquility upon my soul. As I bite into a large sandwich, sit back and contemplate life, remove myself from the reality of the world's problems and concentrate on soothing my taste buds I have entered the proverbial Neverland. Peanut butter is like that, you know. Especially Peter Pan peanut butter. Peter Pan probably did not realize realize that he could bring so much joy to so many when he conjured up that majestic concoction from the lowly dirt encrusted peanut. There may be some that doubt that Peter Pan actually invented peanut butter, but the name speaks for itself doesn't it?

"New Agers' often suggest the potential power of the "Law of Attraction" in peoples lives, but they have missed the real key to success. An apple a day slathered in Peter Pan peanut butter is in fact the ticket to success, happiness and a healthy life.

From my earliest days, now many decades past, I can still remember opening my Superman lunch box at school and removing my peanut butter sandwich from the wax paper that my mother carefully wrapped it in (they didn't have sandwich baggies back then). My imagination ran wild in those days as I wondered what I would grow up to be and that wonderful peanut butter sandwich served to enable me to focus on my wild dreams and the adventuresome meanderings of my childhood mind. While I don't want to tout my success in life - I do owe much to Peter Pan.

I'm old now. Our children are out in the world on their own. I'm retired, departed the working world, rid myself of responsibility and have now once again recaptured the spirit of greeting the day with childhood glee as I contemplate what new adventure I will pursue. I think peanut butter has kept my mind and body young and in spite of a few arthritic pains I am quite capable of an active life. That probably explains my sudden aversion to the wonders of riding a motorcycle.

A popular remedy these days advertises "Head On - Apply directly to the forehead." I believe Peter Pan peanut butter works in much the same way. "Peter Pan - Apply directly to the taste buds." The delivery vehicle is just a bit different - either spread on bread or crackers, made into cookies, or delivered directly from a spoon, the effect is the same. Immediate relief from pain is just moments away. I believe the medical term is "transference". You see taste buds are more powerful and discriminating than pain receptors, therefore the peanut butter awakens the taste buds and catapults their sense of delight immediately to the brain thereby canceling out any pain or discomfort felt throughout the body. I'm not a doctor or even a scientist so I guess my observations will have to be called anecdotal. Nevertheless, I believe it has healing qualities. It can rejuvenate one's sexual prowess and I think it can cure athletes foot too, but I'm saving those remedies for my soon to be published book on the miracle cures of peanut butter.

Anyway, Peter Pan is back from the depths of an E-coli scare that prompted the company to recall thousands of jars and take it off the shelves of our local grocery stores. While I had eaten almost half a jar of the alleged contaminated peanut butter, I felt no ill effects. However, since the removal of Peter Pan from the grocery shelves, I have undergone severe withdrawal pains that could only be partially mitigated by other brands.

I currently am in a peanut butter stupor - as with most things moderation should be followed. Sadly, I could not handle the opportunity to indulge and quite frankly I overdid it. So here I sit drunk with the satisfaction that only a Peter Pan peanut butter sandwich can deliver.

So if you are seeking joy, happiness and success in your life, you need to consume the recipe of Peter Pan. Neverland is available for those who reach out and grasp it!
