Since the dawn of man, there has always been some form of art, starting with the most organic materials; including wood, clay and stone. Woodcarving was done with the use of crude tools, often taking patience and skill which was passed down, or used for functional purposes.
In Edgewater Florida, there is Peter Wolf Toth's outdoor museum gallery; an amazing place full of his carved wood sculptures of all sizes. By sticking with a traditional form of art, the organic quality remains, regardless of the modern or unusual tools used to create.
Living in this area, one gets used to driving by the proud Indian chief standing guard on the property, staring out at the passing motorists, or a beautiful manatee and dolphin carving. When one stops and steps out of their car long enough to look and walk around, it is like entering a magical world, one in which all sorts of characters emerge to great the road weary traveler. The museum is located on route 1, Past New Smyrna Beach, heading south before the town of Oak Hill. While in New Smyrna Beach, this place is worth stopping at, or visiting in general.
