Why do Pet Owners Care so Much?
Pet lovers worldwide cringe at the thought of someone throwing a cat off the top of a tall building just to see if it lands on all fours, or the thought of pet neglect by never feeding your cat or dog. Why do many of these pet owners feel this way, though? Do they really believe that pets have feelings just like humans? Some people say that assertion is just crazy, but others think that pets do share a common bond with their owners.
True Pet Stories
There are many people who have pet stories to tell and some will tell you that their cat or dog does talk to them when they talk to their pet. Of course, many of the things that pets may say may be a simple word like "Mommy" or "Hungry," but these pet owners swear by their pet's abilities to talk and it is made all the more real by their own bond with their own beloved pet.
Other stories that are told revolve around the pet's, whether it be a cat or a dog, ability to save the life of a human. Some people reminisce fondly that their Golden Retriever or Collie has saved them from drowning. There are many websites on the internet and there are many people that you can talk to that will tell you what some of the amazing things are that their own pet has done. Some of these involve simple things but others are in awe of what pets can do for them.
Pets Do Have Feelings
What happens when you leave your dog for a long trip across the country? What happens when you decide to give attention to another cat instead of your own? For dogs, they may get sad and lonely. Dogs often display this sadness by making some kind of unhappy noise and putting their head down. Cats, on the other hand, may get especially jealous when they see you giving attention to another feline. Do dogs have an incredible sense that tells us when we're sad? They do seem to, as they come up to us wanting to give us attention when we're sad or bummed out for one reason or another.
The incredible power of pets can be not only a happy thing in our lives, but also a very healing power. Studies have already been done on the affect that pets can have on someone suffering from Depression or another mental illness. Because of their incredible sense to be near to their owners at times when they need their pets the most, our beloved pets should definitely be regarded and respected as part of our families!
