As per report appearing in a leading newspaper daily, Peugeot is looking to make investments of Rs 1,500 Crore in India. It is not clear if the French car manufacturer will bring in Peugeot or Citroen brand first to the country. A decision on the car brand and product portfolio will be taken after the location is finalized.
It was learnt that Peugeot was looking for land in and around Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh has offered 800 acres of land near Hyderabad. The company was first offered the site offered for Tata Nano project by the Union Ministry for large scale industries, which is also under consideration. Tata Motors had moved out of the site in West Bengal to Gujarat. Tamil Nadu is also being considered by the company officials. A team of senior Peugeot officials are expected to tour the country in this month to finalise the locations in India.
